I stared upon the body of my beloved husband, the light from inside the ballroom casting shadows on his deathly cold face. How could this have happened? We were having such a splendid time. Waltzing in the ballroom. Catching up with the ones dearest to us. Just when some happiness rose up in our lives, it had to be shoved down.

His suited body lay on the moonlit balcony, a beige envelope and a beautiful rose in his left hand. Roses were my favorite. I picked up the letter, tears streaming from my eyes. How dreadful, the death of a loved one. I opened the letter cautiously. Inside was a crinkled up paper with jet black ink that was still wet.

"My dear Mary,

It has finally come. Enjoy yourself."

I had no understanding of the letter. What had come? My face cast a perplexed look. No matter how I read it, I could not make sense of it. It was settled. I was to figure out who murdered my husband.

And make them pay.

A/N: HOO THIS WAS A DOOZY
I'm not sure how the husband's death was immediately assumed to be a murder...
