I think this is the first one to have some actual backstory-)
(Genres: adventure and ~ romance ~)

I looked up at the clock. "T-minus one minute," I thought to myself. Sitting in class listening to lecture after lecture was so boring. Honestly, I would love to be doing something more entertaining like hanging out with Mika. Mika was the leader of our secret school club that went by the name of "The Hidden Library." To avoid suspicion of the teachers, we would just call it "The Library."

Mika and I had met at the beginning of the schoolyear and had stuck together even since. About three months ago, she told me she had found a very odd sight in the restroom, the sight being the tunnel in the wall of one of the stalls. She had found the old room equipped with all of the bookshelves, desks, and chairs that are still in the room to this day. We both claimed the room as our Library and established a secret afterschool club for the kids who wanted to escape reality and relax with a good book. They would attend the club 10 minutes after school had ended. There are two rooms, the names of them being the "Main Room" and the "Kitchen." They are quite dull names, but they're easy to remember.

*RRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNGGGGG*

"That's my cue." I thought to myself. I snatched my books, tossed them in my backpack, and exited the prison of a classroom.

I went the usual route, entering the girls restroom, making sure no one saw me, crawling through the tunnel, the whole jist. The only thing that had changed in my usual route to the Library was that there was a ladder laying against the wall of the entrance. I awkwardly maneuvered myself backwards and slowly descended the ladder, landing safely on the ground.

When I landed in the main room, I had noticed that every single candle was lit, and the room had been decorated with Christmas lights and festive decor, plus a mini tree with lights and ornaments. At the time, I had forgotten that the next day would be Christmas Day.

"I'm here, Mika," I called to her.

"Hey, Edward. You're a few minutes late, you know." She replied.

As soon as she said that, she appeared from the kitchen and walked into the main room, closing her book as she approached me.

"I'm assuming you know what today is. Or perhaps you have forgotten?"

"Well, I do see the decor and candles. Are you preparing for Christmas? Isn't it in a few weeks?" I asked in an unsure manner. "My gosh, Edward. You've completely forgot?" Christmas Day is tomorrow," she sighed. "I suppose you haven't gotten me a gift?"

My gaze slowly trailed to the ground in an attempt to break eye contact. Like Mika said, I had completely forgotten.

"Uhm...well...j-just close your eyes!" I said to distract her. "Very well then," she said as she closed her rolling eyes.

I had to think of something, anything to give her, but she had seen every item in the room so many times that I couldn't simply hand her a stray book or candle without her recognizing it.

And then it hit me.

I had had some very strong feelings for Mika that had developed over the duration of our friendship, and I had been meaning to confess, so this was my chance.

I stepped up to her, slowly taking her hand.

"As an apology for forgetting the gift...maybe I can...make it up to you with a dance?" I asked nervously. (A/N: UHHHHH TOTALLY NOT ME SIMPING FOR MY OWN CHARACTER?!?!?!?!?)

A soft smile spread across her face, her eyes still closed. "Sure. I'll accept this." A wave of relief rushed over me as she spoke those words. Smart thinking, Edward.

My hand slipped away from hers for a slight moment to start the vinyl player. There was a Christmas piano record from the 20's that had been placed in the player.

"Setting the mood, I see?"

"It'll make this more fun."

I took Mika's hand again, leading her to an open part of the room. We danced for a while, synchronizing with the music, enjoying the atmosphere of the event. We had been practicing ballroom dancing for a few weeks like they did in the 20's. After a few minutes, Mika opened her eyes and looked into mine, causing us both to stare at each other.

"You know, I've sensed that you have come to take a liking of me, correct?" She asked me. "I've noticed your giving of small gifts, occasional compliments, and just being here with me overall."

"Well...I won't deny it," I replied, breaking eye contact. "I have been meaning to tell you this for some time, but...I really do love you." I returned my gaze to hers. "For all the times I have been with you, I have always felt such a strong connection to you. I love you as more than a friend, and I would love to become more than friends...as long as you feel the same way." (A/N: that's it im adding this man to my simp list)

Mika laughed softly, sending my heart into a flurry. "Of course. Why would I feel any other way? I have been trying to make it obvious to you, you know. I guess you've never picked up on my signs, but I forgive you for not noticing." (A/N: new ship name edika)

"So...is it official?"

"I guess it is."

"Could I...kiss you?"

"Yes, you may."
