"Lela answer your phone!" I yell as Lela's voicemail comes through my ears once again. I decide I've had enough and got my bike out quick and started to pedal towards Lela's house. I make it in a short amount of time. I knock on the door and Lela's mom answers the door. "Hey sweetie!" she says giving me a hug. "Hi, how you doing momma?" I ask as I look at Lela's newborn brother in her moms hands. "We are doing good" Lela's mom says giving the baby a kiss. "He's adorable!" I say. The baby was probably one of the ugliest babies I had ever seen in my fucking life.
"Is Lela home?" I ask and Lela's mom lets me in. "She should be upstairs!" I walk past and walk up the stairs and towards Lela's room. I inch closer to her door and I can hear noises coming from behind the door. I slowly twist the doorknob and inch the door open. I gasp when I see Duke and Lela fucking. They both look at me and Lela covers up. "What the fuck?" I say breathing heavily. "Louie..." Lela tries to come up with an excuse. "Fuck you" I say to her as she grabs her clothes. "Louie I know he was bad to you but he's a generally sweet guy" Lela says shutting the door after I walk out.
"That guy tried to rape me twice and you go and fuck him two days later?" I say with tears beginning to form. My voice is quiet and cracking. "Louie he treats me good if you were a real friend you would be happy for me right now." I roll my eyes. "Enjoy my sloppy seconds" I say and walk out of the house.
It's Halloween and I was supposed to go to the big Halloween party with Lela. I was going over to help her with her makeup for the party. I get on my bike and wipe my tears away. I pull out my phone and click on a contact. I press call and hear a ringing sound from my phone. Within two rings I hear a "Hey Louie!" Lexi's voice goes through and I smile.
"Hey Lexi is it okay if I go with you to the Halloween party?" I ask and Lexi immediately invites me in. "Can I go get ready at your's?" I ask and I hear a "Yes please I need help getting my beard on" and I am confused by the comment.
I ride my bike all the way to the Howards residence and park it out front. I knock on the door and Ms. Howard answers it with a wine glass in hand. "We aren't interested in any cookies to help raise money for your Boy Scout troop." she says closing the door. I quickly push it open and say "I'm here for Lexi" I say and Ms. Howard then swings the door open and screams up the steps "Lexi door" and I hear a scream from upstairs "Come on up Louie!" I walk past Ms. Howard and up the steps.
I open the door to the Howard sisters room. "Too much?" Lexi ask pointing to her beard. "Oh girl, are you a magician?" I ask confused by the costume. "I'm Bob Ross" Lexi says and Cassie who is sitting on the floor doing her hair says "I told her nobody knows who that is" I walk over and still help her apply the beard glue. I make sure it matches evenly with her face and I help her wig stay straight.
