Marshall POV:

These days I'm feeling a bit scared. Usually that's not the case with me. Although I admit I get startled easily, it's not like that this time. This time I feel kinda.... Weirded out.

For some reason Everest started to follow me around. She would go wherever I would go. She'd stand some distance from where I am but would stare at me the whole time. At first I thought it was just a coincidence. Maybe she's just bored or something. But a few more days passed and she does the same thing everyday when she visits us in the lookout.
I don't know what's up with her, she never did this before and I'm starting to get kinda nervous.

It's not that she's doing anything bad. But because she isn't doing anything at all! She would just lay down some distance maybe hide behind something and would secretly watch me while I do a bit of stretching or when me and Chase play pupup boogie.

When I try to approach her she would run away in a hurry. I'm starting to really worry. What's going on?

I wanted to get some advice from Chase. I told him about Everests' 'weird' behavior, but he just sighed, patted me on the shoulder and left without saying anything. Which I thought Again was weird.

The next thing I tried was Skye, her best friend. I told her what I told Chase. And she just rolled her eyes with a Chuckle and told me I would be better off asking her myself. But how can I when she keeps running away? I'm starting to get really annoyed with everyone.

Just as I was heading back I saw her again hiding behind the cardboard box we played with this morning. She was peeping out but when she saw that I looked at her she quickly hid inside again.
I don't know why but suddenly her behavior and hiding inside a box made her look... 'Cute'.
Hold on, what are you saying?! She's not cute she's creeping me out!
That's it, I'm done with this game.

Right as I was about to talk to her, she jumped out the box toppling it over, and sprinted inside her pup house. Not again...

Before I could do anything Ryder called everyone for dinner. I waited for her to come out. But it never happened. In the end Ryder just brought her a dish of food. I heard him ask why she didn't come out, but she asked him to come closer. I think she whispered it to him. I couldn't hear anything. And she quickly closed the door again. Turning to me, Ryder smiled and shook his head before going back in. What is up with everyone?

I know I'm not going to be able to ask her tonight. So I'll have to wait till morning.

After racking my brain last night on how to get close to her I finally figured out the best way.
As tired as I was, I woke up early. I didn't head inside to get breakfast. Instead I hid behind Everests' pup house. I waited for a while. Quiet as a mouse. I heard her door open.

I jumped out of my hiding place and didn't think twice before tackling her to the ground. I got on top of her making sure she would be able to run away again.

"Gotcha!" I said pinning her with just enough force to not hurt her.
She shook her head a bit from her dizziness. When she opened her eyes they immediately widened. And looked away with a flustered look avoiding my gaze.

"U-um. . . Marshall, W-what are you doing?" She stuttered still looking away. And. . . Did I just see her blush? No that can't be right. We roughhouse all the time before she started acting weird. It's not the first time I tackled and pinned her. She even sometimes pin me down. Why is she so embarrassed now?
I pushed aside the thought and decided to get to the point.

"Everest, why have you been following me around? And why do you keep avoiding me? Did I ever do something wrong to you?" I asked.
She still wouldn't look at me and kept silent for a while.

"No.... I-Its not that..." She stuttered again.

"Then... What?" I asked again.

"I- ... I can't tell you... It's too embarrassing..." She said. Her cheeks flushed pink. Why are they flushing pink?!

"Come on Eve... You know you can tell me anything, I'm your best friend." I said in a softer tone.

"That's just it! You're my best friend! I shouldn't be feeling this towards you right now!" She blurted out. Which shocked me of course.

"What do you mean?" She finally turned towards me. I can see a hint of hesitation in her eyes.

"Look, I don't care what it might be. I just want us to go back to being normal friends. When we would play around, laugh together and not all weird in front of each other. Would that be okay?" I asked .

She kept silent Again. "No." She replied. Which stunned me. "I don't want us to go back to normal. I want us to be more than just friends!" She exclaimed with determination in her eyes.

I looked at her not knowing what to say.
"I... What do you mean?..." I couldn't help but ask.

"Marshall..." She paused for a second. "... I... Like you..."

"Wu-...?" My eyes widened as I stared at her flustered red face. Did... Did she just say...? And did I just hear...?
My heart felt warm and fuzzy and my stomach feels like I swallowed a bunch of butterflies.

"I...." I tried to find the right words to reply.
"I... like you too Everest.."

She looked at me with wide eyes. "You-... Can you say that again?" She requested.

I smiled and slowly said to her, "I Like You Too Everest." Seeing her taking longer to react I took the initiative. And softly licked her cheek. Even so my face was burning. I loosened my grip on her. Seeing this she broke out and tackled me back and started licking my face.

"W- Wait- hey hahaha that tickles hahaha!" I giggled. But she continued to ignore my plead.

"This is your punishment for making me blush so much. You've been assimilated to my kisses, resistance is futile!" She said with a grin and then continued.

"Hahaha Okay okay! I surrender! Hahaha!" I was lost in the moment and stopped resisting. And she planted one right on my lips. Which surprised me. But then didn't do anything.

A couple of minutes later...

It took her a while to finally stop and we just both looked at each other smiling sweetly.
We headed to the lookout and decided to have breakfast since we were hungry after what we did.
Walking inside we saw that everyone was already there eating.
All of them noticed both of us.

"Uuum Marshall? Why is your face all wet?" Chase asked.

I realized that I might my face still has her kisses all over and didn't bother to wipe it off. We both looked at each other and blushed.

"Ooooh." All of them said with grins on they're faces.

"W-what?" I asked putting on an innocent look.

"well it's about time you found out." Chase said with a smirk.

"And it's about time you stopped being such a chicken about it." Skye grinned at Everest.

We both smiled at each other and didn't say anything more. Too embarrassed about it.
Now I get why she acted like that. Even I would have done the same thing if I'd realized it sooner than her. I understand that she didn't want our friendship to be ruined... But also... Ah! Forget it! I'm in a happy mood today and I'm not about to ruin that with my overthinking. And I have a girlfriend which is AWESOME!

"Marshall come on let's eat!"

Speaking of my happiness. I smiled. "Coming Eve!" All of them looked at me again. I still can't help but blush at those grins. But I liked that they support us with this.

I excitedly ran over to her side and she helped me clean my face. And spend the rest of the together.
