The night was dark as if it was kaalratri the extreme silence was an addition to it's shallowness, only the sounds made by the small creatures were audible.
After a long tiring day, she was finally in her room. She had just checked on her brothers whether they were sleeping soundly and were prepared for tomorrow's day of school, also made sure that her Jetha Moshai had taken his medicine before sleeping and had made sure her baba didn't drink again escaping her spectating eyes.

Opening her long hair from the bun she had made, she called for the house help Koyeli who arrived immediately on her call and she asked for an massage from her.
"Koyeli didi jara sar mein maalish kar do na bahut thakan mehsus ho rahi hai"
"Ji didi choto malkin, aur thakan toh hogi hi na subha se yaha se waha aur waha se yaha ghumti jo rehti hai aap."
Koyeli said in an teasing tone.
"Ab tum bhi mujhe na chidhana didi, kya karu mein ghumna toh padta hai mujhe mere siwai kisi aur ki sunte hai kahe ye charo aur mere siwai aur koi aurat hai bhi toh nahi iss Ghar mein."
She replied with a puppy face.
"Hmm woh toh hai, phir bhi chota muh badi baat didi malkin, aap kabhi kabar kuch jada hi sakti se pesh aati ...."
At this she turned and glared at Koyeli at which Koyeli immediately retreated and said,
" Mera matlab hai jitna sakti se aap pesh aati hai utna hi pyaar aur sabka Maan bhi rakhti , par mujhe yahi nahi samaj aata agar pyaar hi karna hai toh sakti kya jarurat?"
Koyeli completed while questioning her didi malkin, at which she sighed and answered,
"Meri bholi didi, iski waja bas itni hai ki sakti se ghar me thoda anushasan bana rehta hai aur pyaar se apnapan, aur jab maa chali gayi tab jetha Moshai ne kaha tha ki ab iss Ghar ki sari zimmedari meri kyuki ab iss gher ekloti stree mai hi toh hoo. Aur tab turant ye baat mujhe kuch khass nahi samjhi par samay ke sath ab sab samjhne laga aur iss liye yeh Aisa vartan hai mera, aur ab mujhe lagta hai ki Mera yeh jawab kafi hai tumhare liye didi ?"
"Ji didi malkin" and with this the whole room filled with utter silence as Koyeli continued with her massage.
But Koyeli wasn't done with her session of questions and thus breaking the silence she said,
"Didi malkin, agar aap bura na mane toh ek aur sawal puchu aap se?"
A smile appeared on her lips as she sat with her eyes closed at this as these words showed how her always quite didi who entered her house a few years ago and stayed here forever has now started to open up a bit atleast with her and her younger siblings after her many efforts to make her comfortable in the house.
"Haa pucho na, par apko nahi lagta ki aap aaj kal kuch jada hi sawal puchne lagi hai"
she asked trying to tease her Koyeli didi but it didn't work the way she wanted and Koyeli immediately replied,
" Maaf karna didi malkin, aage se aisa nahi hoga, subhratri."
And with this Koyeli began to leave the room.
She smacked her own head and immediately got up to stop Koyeli from leaving realising what mess she created. Stopping Koyeli from leaving and making her sit on the bed and kneeling in front of her she said,
" Ohh didi kya tum bhi didi Mera mazak bhi nahi samjhi , abhi thodi der pehle tum bhi toh mujhe chidha rahi thi toh mene socha Mai bhi tumhe thoda chidha loo. Acha ye Jane do tum pucho kya puchana tha tumhe?"
"Pakka na aap mazak kar rahi thi ?"
Koyeli still said being unsure about her didi malkin's words at which She smiled and nodded at her, and gathering courage from that reassuring smile Koyeli asked,
"kya aap choto Malik ko yaad karti hai, matlab Ghar mein toh sab unko yaad karte, sab unki baate karte hai sivay aap ke, aisa kyu jabki jaha tak mujhe yaad ap toh unke sabse jada kareeb thi ??"
At the mention of her 'Da' she grew alert and the smile on her face vanished and her face became serious which was actually an attempt of her to hide the actual sadness behind it.
While stamering she replied, " kya tum bhi didi kabhi bhi koyi bhi sawal puch leti ho aur janno na kal subhe jaldi bhi toh utha na hai kal Jetha Moshai aur baba ka janamdin Jo hai jiski kal party yaneke utsav aur Pooja dono hai matlab ki hamme bohat Sara kaam hai kal toh behtar yahi hai ki hum aab so Jaye Varna kal achi khasi daat padegi. Is liye subhratri" she completed forcing a smile.
Koyeli understood how she was avoiding this topic even today like every time and thus giving her didi malkin a departing nod she left the room.
As soon as the sound of the closing door was heard, She who was now standing by the window gazing at the moon uttered to herself,
"Mai yaad nahi karti apne da ko?? Har pal yaad karti hoo , par auro ki taraha bas jatati nahi itna hi toh farak hai aur ye bhi isliye kyuki naraj hoo mai aapse da, naraj hoo kyuki itne varsho mein aap kabhi ek baar bhi nahi aaye sirf Patra likhte rahe ya telephone karte rahe jabki mujhe apke Patra nahi aap chahiye the mere sath. Par phir bhi jo Jetha Moshai ne samjhaya ki apka Jana jaruri tha aur wo kyu jaruri tha isliye meine aage koi jid nahi ki. Par aaj bhi apke lautne ki rah dekh rahi hoo da!! Jaldi wapas aa jayiye apki mishti apki rah dek rahi hai...."
With this wiping her own tears which were flowing uncontrollably on her cheeks she went to her bed to catch some sleep as it was a day full of rush for her tomorrow, completely unaware of what was going to happen tomorrow....

She means Sharvari Roychowdhury, who was a maiden now made sure that the Roychowdhury household ran well in the absence of her mother. With the passing time she had became the running force of the house, no work was possible without her presence. She was the one who was respected and adored equally by all as she was generous with all around her and also made sure no one suffered around her in any way. She was also home schooled which was not much appreciated by her Jetha Moshai but it was her wish and she was stubborn towards it and she being the only daughter to them her all wishes were always fullfilled, though she had some restrictions being a daughter yet she had an upper hand being a Roychowdhury daughter.
Though she was loved and adored by all which was something rare in that time, she longed for her mother's and elder brother's love alot, as she was always considered as the a person with responsiblties and authority and thus people around her maintained distance from her and a very few dared to be close to her and the other family members were always busy in their own daily routine making her a lone soul in the house full of people. Her younger siblings were there but they were still small and preoccupied with their own schedule which scarcely allowed them to spend time with her. She never expressed herself and thus people misinterpreted her being a strict yet caring Roychowdhury daughter who was an joyous yet when time needed a very strict soul.
