For professional_reader7 for this wonderful idea!!

Sam never really questioned life much, if life gave him something good, he would cherish it, without much thought. Like the old saying goes, 'if life gives you lemons, (don't question them and) make lemonade out of it.'

So partly, that's the reason he didn't look into matters twice when he realized Bucky's nervousness around him.
'Nervousness' he realized after some time, would be the wrong word, 'shyness' on the other hand....

Well, as unexpected that it, Sam does want to believe it. Because a small part of his mind is still finding it extremely hard to believe that he's together with Bucky, after God knows how long.
And he can't bear the thought of Bucky being nervous because of him.

Whenever such events unfold, Sam usually smiles and agrees with life, because honestly, he currently has everything he can ever ask for and more.

One similar morning, he woke up with a bulk over his body, this wasn't uncommon, usually when he woke up, Bucky was always over him, or snuggled up close to him (Sam never understood how the super soldier managed his acts without waking up either of the men).
But today, he felt Bucky's uneven breathing and knew for sure that he was awake.

"Morning?" He raised his eyebrow as Bucky rose from his position with a smile plastered on his face.
Sam would probably never get used to seeing Bucky beaming at him.
"Morning Sammy," Bucky half yawned and leaned in closer.

And that's usually Sam's cue to kiss him. Bucky only ever leaned closer, his hot breath tickling on Sam's face and a look of anticipation painted on his eyes.
So Sam kisses him, everyday, without much thought.

Another day, just as Sam was in the kitchen, preparing breakfast, a feather light touch cracked his concentration as two arms snaked around his waist. "You're up early," He pointed out as Bucky relaxed his head on Sam's shoulder, cradling him ever so lightly. Only a soft hum of contentment came as an answer and he chuckled.
Bucky's head slowly slithered to Sam's neck as he peppered his neck with light kisses.
Sam whirled around and his hands shot out to position themselves on Bucky's hips. Bucky huffed a laugh and leaned in, Sam, just like always, grinned to himself and captured Bucky's lips with his.

The thing is though, it kept happening.

Sam didn't exactly expect Bucky to wake up one morning and have an Earth shaking change in his persona, but it was still overwhelmingly disturbing every time Bucky refused to kiss him.
Also, it was an overwhelmingly awkward conversation to have, at least for him.

But considering Bucky's mindset of the last century, Sam couldn't blame him either.

Even though three years had passed, Bucky was always amazed and stunned at the idea of pride parade.

Although the simple idea of Bucky being disgusted by the idea of kissing or having a romantic relation with a man sounded wrong to Sam, but it was still agitating and sparking a tinge of nervousness in him.

And all that bought both of them to that day near some no name bar just outside New York. When the rain was heavy and they were clutching each other's hand, rushing towards the nearest shelter.

Which just happened to be a bar.

As soon as they were under shelter, Bucky pulled Sam close and they almost kissed. Almost.
A few seconds passed before Sam murmured, "We should probably go inside."

It wasn't that he had a problem with kissing Bucky, it was that he wanted to understand why Bucky couldn't do it.

Sam rushed inside the bar and soon enough heard the heavy footsteps of the supersoldier following behind.
