Andres groans and wakes outside his dad's door. sometimes he teleports in his sleep to weird places. last time he did he woke up in a tree he use to climb as a kid.
Today breakfast with awkward with Mirabel seeming to want Luisa's attention and Alma not having it after what happened last night. You are mostly quiet and decided today you will help Camilo entertain the kids in town today. You guys play a game of "where'd Andres teleport" . Andres chuckle as he hides near Julieta's stand
"nice hiding spot" he hears behind him
he turns quickly and sees this beautiful girl who's 5"4 with hazel eyes and dirty blonde curly hair and tan skin.
"Valentina Guzman right?" he ask
she nods. she's Mariano's younger cousin who's now living with him and his mom.
"so why are you hiding here?" she ask
"oh I'm just helping my primo entertain some kids. I uh can teleport so they have to find me. " Andres says nervous.
he gets nervous around girls who aren't his cousins.
"Andres!! I found him!" one of the kids shouts.
Andres smiles and moves out his spot and the kids tackle him. Valentina laughs and Andres gets butterflies hearing her laugh. Camilo runs over and tries to help his primo up.
"get him guys!" you tell the kids.
they laugh and chase Camilo who runs away.
"wow sending them after your cousin.. that's pretty funny. " Valentina says smiling at you
"Valentina come help me please sobrina " Señora Guzman tells her niece
"coming tia! ... see you around Madrigal" she runs off
Andres smiles small and watch her run off. Julieta smiles seeing her nephew developing a little crush.
after chores Andres heads home and just plays with his rats. Antonio was borrowing them for a secret apparently but he didn't mind He's just happy his youngest cousin likes his rats too. Antonio and Dolores seem to be the only ones not weirded out by the rats. Andres loses track of time as he remembers his dad getting him into rats
"now just hold them gently " Bruno puts a small new born rat in his son's hand
Andres is 3 at the time and he loved watching his dad with the rats. Andres smiles.
"look papi i'm doing it. "
"yes you are. i'm so proud of you. I'll always be proud of you. " Bruno said and then kisses for his son's head.
"Primo it's time for dinner" Mirabel said peeking her head in the room
Andres sigh and stand up sadly. he misses his dad everyday
"what's wrong ?" Mirabel walks over
"oh uh.. just thinking of my papi " he admits to his favorite cousin.
Mirabel hugs him.
"my mami says you look like him" she tells her cousin
"yeah.. that's probably why Abuela doesn't look at me and low key hates me "
"if she hates anyone it's me. at least you have a gift. " Mirabel tells him
"hey if i can switch places with you and give you my gift i would. "
Mirabel smile small
"i know you would... come on let's go before we are hated more. " she jokes
"most hated club! we need shirts. " Andres tells her as they walk out his room
she laughs and they go to the table and sit for dinner. Dinner is going as it usually does with everyone talking. every time Alma talks to Andres she never looks at him and today it just seems to bother Andres more. he just feels unloved.
"Abuela..." Andres starts
"yes?" Alma says looking anywhere but at him
"why don't ever look at me? since i hit puberty you never seem to look at me at all. " he said kind of hurt
Everyone seems to be looking at Alma
"Andres we aren't going to talk about this. " Alma dismisses him
"why not? cause I look like my father? your child Bruno" Andres says getting mad
"we don't talk about bruno!" Alma hisses at her grandson
"oh really? bruno!bruno!bruno! that's why you can never look at me cause i look just like him! you probably want to erase me the same way you want to erase him! " he glitches and with each bruno he ends up in a different part of the dining room
"Enough!" Alma grabs her grandson and slaps him
he looks at her shock and everyone gasp
"Mami!" Julieta and Pepa both shout
Andres teleports to his room the moment he hears thunder. He just screams and throws things around his room mad. He stops and just cries. He sneaks out with casita's help and runs into the woods while it rains he actually had an umbrella.
"ugh stupid woods! stupid rain" he hears a familiar voice.
he follows the voice and see Valentina looking for a way out the woods.
"Valentina" he says and rushes over and covers her with the umbrella
"Madrigal... thank you. do you uh know how to get out of here? it was dumb of me to start walking in here when it was getting dark and then it started raining. " she explains
"oh yeah my tia pepa is upset so that's why it's raining. " Andres says
he notices Valentina shiver. he takes off his ruana and put it on her.
"oh no you are going to get sick" she says
"I won't. promise. " he smiles
he puts an arm around her shoulder to share the umbrella and helps her get home. they talked and got to know each other abit while walking.
"well this is me.. Thanks Madrigal. "she smiles at the tall green eyed boy
"anytime Valentina..." he smiles
he watches her head inside and walk back to casita.
