Unexpected Fate

Chapter 8

He said and my heart stopped beating. I feel Xavier hold my hand and Ryan gets stiffened. I here gasp from Mr. and Mrs. Knight.

When no one said anything, mom sighs and continues - "As you all know that in our last year of college your dad and I got engaged and had Ryan and you. But that's not the whole story. In our college we had a friend named Lucy Jones. She was my best friend. She was the most beautiful, kind heart, gentle and sweet girl in our college. Many guys wanted her as their life partner, many of them admire her. But she had one person in her heart and that was Hunter king, the college's bad boy. He also loved her as much as she did. She was his sweetheart, his light in his dark life. After graduating they got married, live happily far away from their family for some reason that we don't know at that time. Then we got our separate paths in our lives.

Suddenly after almost two years they contacted us again. After 1 week of Ryan's birth they show up at our doorstep with a little girl as old as Ryan. They looked so worried that night and we welcomed them. After settling down, when we asked what happened, they told us that, hunter's family was involved with mafias. And they wanted a baby boy as an heir to their business. In their business there were no places for a girl, so they should abdomen the girl and try for another baby. But he and Lucy decline their offer and cut off ties with them. But Hunter's family got furious about this and ordered their men to kill the daughter. In the mafia there were some people who were loyal to Hunter, so they informed him and they ran away from where they lived. They did not know what to do back then, so they came to us for protection of their child because we had already built our name in the business world pretty well, so no one couldn't do anything to us.

And the child is Raya." – Mom said with tears in her eyes.

After hearing, those tears which threatened to fall escaped from my eyes. Ryan hugged me sideways and Xavier was still holding my hand.

"After observing the situation we got a solution that we took Raya as our own. So if they came for her, there could not be any problems about the security. We change your parents name in your birth certificate, then Lucy and Hunter are gone for good from your life and we 4 live happily after that. But..."

Then dad cut off mom because mom's voice was already shaken, she was also hurting while telling us about the incident --"But Hunter's family knows that you are alive and have protection from us. Then when you are 13 hunter Lucy came to visit us. That time you both were in the school. He told us that they have another baby which is a boy and he is 8 years old. He cut off all his ties with his parents and lived with Lucy's parents and helped in their business, which now grew pretty well. They wanted you back but Hunter's family business got down, as he was only child, so there were no one who could handle the business, so they made a deal with him as they did not accept Raya in the past but now they can accept her as their own but in return they want her to marry to another mafia's heir, for stopping to fall their business down. So that will be a win-win situation for both of them. But hunters decline that too. Then they got angry and threatened him that if Raya could not get married before 18 then they might be kidnapping her. Because they know very well that we are not allowed to get married at such a young age.

And now Raya will be 18 in the next 3 months. So she has to get married before that. Also there are some people who spy on her too. We don't know who they are but the police said that they would handle the situation carefully. We have our men too, who always follow you, and everywhere you go. But still anything could happen in this period, so we have to give Raya a good family for her safety."

After listing the whole story and the present situation which I'm in, I got numb. I couldn't hear anything, couldn't breathe properly. Xavier notices that and takes me from Ryan. I could see him say something to me but I did not understand what it was. Then everything goes black before my eyes.
