Mj's POV

I walked into the Daily Bugle and headed straight to the elevator. My office was on the top floor so it took sometime to get there.

After what happened with Pete I've been slacking on my work. I just feel so guilty putting him through all that pain. Every time I close my eyes I see him staring at me with so much anger. I'm gonna be honest I was a bit scared of him that day we officially broke up. Never has he acted that way towards me. I guess I can't blame him. Finding out his ex and his best friend getting together...

I haven't talked to Harry since that day. I told him we needed a break while I figured things out. He was pretty understanding about it.

These past few weeks of being away from Peter I've noticed how much I miss him. I never stopped loving him. I was just so tired of dating two people. Of course, it's just one person, but you get what I mean.

Everyday I stare at my phone wondering if I should pick it up and call him and tell him I still love him. Like I've always done when we "broke" up. Peter would say it back immediately and come running—er, swinging to my apartment. But this time just feels different. I'm scared that if I did call him instead of him answering and hearing his soft little "hello" i'll hear the dreadful automated voicemail; showing that we're truly over...and I don't want that.

Finally hearing a ding the elevator doors slide open and I stepped out. Looking around everyone was in a huge rush. It was difficult just getting to my desk. I almost spilled my coffee multiple times. Making it to my desk I got settled in and began working. Barely 5 minutes in Jonah yells for me from his office.

I quickly got up and sped walked over (dodging many people in the process). Once I reached Jonah's office I closed the door behind be and let out a breath of relief.

"Jeez! Why is everyone in such a rush today?", I asked as I sat in the chair in front of Jonah's desk.

He looked at me with a raised eyebrow. "Are you saying you haven't heard the news?", he simply asked. I shook my head "no".

"You're my best reporter! How are you not caught up with the biggest news of THIS YEAR?!". He took a long drag of his cigar which seemed to relax him.

"I-I'm sorry. I guess I was asleep when it blew up"

While muttering many curse words Jonah dug into his desk drawer he drew out a packet of papers. "Well, you better get up to speed with it because I want you on this assignment!", he handed me the stack of papers. "Of course, sir", I got up and headed towards the door. Just as I was about to open the door I stopped and turned back around. "What is the big story, sir?"

He let out an annoyed sigh before digging into his drawer again. Grabbing a single piece of paper he slaps it onto his desk. I slowly walked up to it. "Last night Spider-man...", he spat "...was seen kissing the enemy"

My eyes nearly popped out of my head as I stared at the large photo of Black Cat and Spider-man making out. "W-when was this taken?!"

"Sometime late last night. Some perv caught them making out on top of a building. The kiss isn't even the best part!", Jonah spoke excitedly. I looked at him confused.

"See his mask?"

I nodded my head.

"No, one has ever even seen a streak of skin before and now we have the entire bottom half of his face! HAH! We're one step closer to figure out who this damn menace is!"

I froze at his words. If they find out that Pete is Spider-man every single enemy of his will be right on his doorstep ready to kill him. "S-sir why would we even reveal such a a big secret of his? He's a hero! He risks his life for us every day!"

"A HERO?! Do heroes make out with thieves on an abandon building? For all we know they've been working together. Spider-man getting on the good side of the police so he can learn about their schedules. Then he sends them to Black Cat who uses that info to rob banks and jewelry stores!"

I grabbed the photo and shoved it with the rest of the papers that were handed to me. "That seems a bit far-fetched"

"I'm not here to argue with you! Now learn whatever you can about Spider-man's relationship with Black Cat and report back to me!", he shouted with his cigar sitting at the corner of his mouth. "Yes, sir", I said defeatedly. I dragged my body out the room and back to my desk.

Pulling the photo back out I stared at it and a rush of jealousy ran over me. This...Black Cat was absolutely gorgeous. Not a single flaw was shown on her face. And Peter...he looked like he never wanted to let go. His hands clung to her hips so tight. It's as if he thought if he did let go she would disappear in to thin air.

I slide the photo into an empty drawer and started my work, but every once in a while I would grab it again, studying it. My heart breaking each time I looked at it. Every time I saw how close their bodies were and how tight they were holding onto each other. My jealousy started to turn to anger.

How does he know her? How long has he know her? Are they in a relationship? Who is she? and does she know Peter's secret identity?

So many questions ran through my mind it was difficult to just focus on one. Never have I known Peter to do something like this. Have I finally lost him?

Looking up at the clock it was already 5pm. Great, I haven't done anything except obsess over my ex-boyfriend. I cleaned up my desk and headed out. My phone ranger just as I made it outside. Pulling it out a reminder that I set for myself went off "Don't forget about groceries!!"

Shit! I definitely forgot after what happened today. Putting my phone back in my pocket I went to the nearest grocery store and did some light shopping. It took about 30 minutes then I was back to heading home.

I decided on running through time square to get home quicker. Which was a bad idea.

Every billboard there was lit up with the picture of Spider-man and Black Cat. Tons of news reporters were telling the latest gossip on the situation. It's like they were mocking me. People around me were whispering about rumors they heard on the topic while other just stared and gawked. I kept my head down and pushed through the crowd of New Yorkers. Suddenly everyone started to shout with excitement. My curiosity got the best of me and I looked up.

The man in red and blue spandex swung through time square. Shouts of "Yeah Spider-man!" or "where's Black Cat?", we're every where.

My eyes never left his figure until he swung around a building and I could no longer see him. That was the first time I've seen him since our fight and it wasn't even the real him. Tears swelled at the brims of my eyes. Quickly I blinked them away and pushed through the crowd finally making it home.
