Lena had been in the kitchen whipping up some breakfast when a brooding presence startled her. A small squeak left her lips as she turned towards the stove to pour the pancake batter in the pan and nearly knocked the mixture all over Ric.
"Ric, what are you doing? You scared the hell out of me!" she whisper-shouted, not wanting to make too much noise so early in the morning. It wasn't even 9am yet but she couldn't sleep much last night.
"Sorry, I've been up all night and was starving. Didn't mean to scare you," he said softly and grinned sheepishly. Lena huffed but offered a forgiving smile before returning to her cooking.
She asked, "You want pancakes?"
"Oh, I love your pancakes! How many are you making?"
"I made enough batter for a few people but since it's only you and me, say four each?" she pondered, looking back at him over her shoulder. He nodded, a broad smile replacing his previous sleepy scowl.
They chatted as she cooked and as the clock struck 9:30, she flopped four pancakes onto each plate and nestled herself across from her winged friend.
"So, how long do you think before people notice Kiri and Bakugou aren't sleeping in their rooms?" Ric asked as a sly smirk grew on his features. Lena nearly choked on her pancake and she quickly took a drink of her milk tea to swallow it down. 'How the hell did he notice?' she pondered, eyes wide as she stared at him.
"Uh, wh-what do you mean? Have they been staying somewhere else?"
"Oh Lena, don't insult my intelligence. I know ya'll are a thing, no need to hide it," he chuckled, taking another bite of his food.
She chewed on the inside of her cheek, contemplating what she should say next. She could continue to deny it but she hated lying to her friends and this would be the perfect opportunity to lighten that guilt. Before she could come to a concrete decision, her mouth moved before her mind could.
"Okay, yes we are a thing and yes, they have been sleeping in my room. Are you...mad?" she asked tentatively.
"Thought so and nah I'm not mad ya'll are together. Wish you would've told us sooner, we tell each other everything and we never judge. Why hide this?"
"I wanted to tell you guys but we aren't even really together yet. It's exclusive but we're just in the talking phase right now y'know? Getting to know each other, learning each other's training styles, likes and dislikes, all that fun stuff." She took a breath, tapping her fingers against her cup. "A poly couple is not a common thing let alone in Japan, cultural norms are different than in America. I don't even know if they want to say anything yet."
Ric nodded and stared down at his plate as he took the information in. He didn't care that she was poly or that she was dating the asshole of the class. In the month they had been here there was one thing he could tell from how Bakugou acted and it was that he would plow down anyone who hurt those close to him. The blonde was crude and an ass hat but he was protective of his friends and that meant deadly protective of whoever he chose to date.
He sighed and offered a smile. "Look, I don't care that you're poly, Lena. Hell, the fact that you chose the dickhead amongst all the guys here doesn't even bother me. I understand respecting their boundaries in regards to telling us, still kinda stings that it was hidden, but I get it," he said as he reached across the table and placed a calming hand over her shaking one.
"You're the best, Ric. I'm gonna tell the others but I wanna ask Katsuki and Eijirou first if they mind, okay?"
"First of all, cool, sounds like a plan. Second of all, I'm sorry, is that first name basis I hear? Do I even wanna know what ya'll did to get to first names?" Ric teased, laughing as Lena's face grew beet red. She rolled her eyes and stood up to take her empty plate to the sink.
"Oh shove it up your ass. You're right, you don't wanna know!" Lena couldn't help but laugh along with him and when he brought his dirty dishes up to the sink, she playfully snatched them and blew some bubbles at him.
They giggled like children as she cleaned up her cooking mess and while Ric dried and put away the last plate, two pairs of red eyes watched them from the kitchen entrance. The redhead admired their friendship and as he glanced at his boyfriend from the corner of his eye, he nearly snorted. Katsuki had a subtle scowl on his face but that was to be expected as the blond was the jealous type.
Lena turned to wipe her hands on a towel when her eyes locked with a fiery crimson. She sucked in a breath at the intensity of his gaze and it nearly brought her to her knees. 'Gods, he is so damn sexy,' she thought, unconsciously chewing her bottom lip. Her eyes broke away to lock with ruby red and her heart softened at the look on his face, a warm smile, and soft eyes.
"Mornin, guys. I'll uh...leave ya'll to it. Thanks for the pancakes, Lena!" Ric muttered, shuffling by the narrow-eyed blond and out of the kitchen. Lena smiled brightly at her two lovers and made her way to them, placing a soft kiss on both of their lips.
"G'mornin, babes. How'd you two sleep?" she asked, hoping Katsuki would look past the pancake part of what Ric said. 'He seems like the jealous type and I do not want issues between them.' Her thoughts raced and her grin grew sheepish as he simply stared back at her, the same scowl on his face.
Eijrou spoke up, breaking the tense silence, "I slept pretty good thanks for asking, MoonBeam. How'd you sleep? We were surprised to see you gone when we woke up."
"Making pancakes for someone else was more enticing than sleeping next to us, hmm?" Kat remarked, the bite in his words no going unnoticed. His words hurt Lena and she let her eyes drift downwards as she frowned. She was restless most of the night and after laying there for hours unable to sleep, she thought cooking her favorite breakfast would help her feel better. Lena hadn't expected Ric to be up this early as well and she felt some annoyance seep into her.
"Kat-"
"No Ei, it's fine. First of all, I couldn't sleep. I was restless for most of the night and I figured instead of just laying there, I would get up and make breakfast. Pancakes happen to be my favorite so I thought they would help me feel better." Lena looked up, locking eyes with those same fiery crimson but this time, she didn't let his gaze move her. She glared back with the ferocity of the alpha within her. "Second of all, Ric had walked in maybe twenty minutes after me and I would normally make pancakes for my friends back in America and I had enough batter so I made him some, too. I get how it looks and I know we are only starting out, but it'd be wise not to jump to conclusions."
By the time she was done, she was mere inches from his face. Her canines had elongated slightly but not enough to be bared, she made sure of it. Eijirou sighed and shook his head before placing a hand in between the two, creating some distance. Katsuki's glare faltered just a bit but his stubbornness and pride were far too large to allow him any kind of surrender.
"We believe you, baby. Kat, apologize. I can see how it may have looked but Lena wouldn't do that to us. Yes, we're are in the talking phase right now but we agreed to be exclusive. You let your thoughts get to you too easily, babe," the redhead murmured, trying his best to calm them both down.
"Tch...I'm going for a run." Before they could react, Katsuki spun on his heel and was out of there in a flash. Lena glared after him before huffing and turning to Eijirou, a pout spreading over her face.
"It really wasn't anything, Ei. I swear it was just bad timing and I always made breakfast for my friends," she whined softly and he nodded, pulling her into his chest in a tight embrace.
He rested his chin on the top of her head as he held her. "I know, love. He just gets jealous easily but he'll calm down soon enough. You'll get that apology one way or another, too," he cooed, stroking her lower back as he held her. This morning was not going as planned and she could feel a headache coming on.
