It was so cold. The wind bit at my skin. I couldn't see but could feel the moon watching over me. The omniscient moon. Always there. Just watching. And then a voice. Perhaps a rude and cruel voice, but it was enough to bring me out of the icy glare of the moon. It distracted me, but not in a good way.
"Why the hell is there a little glowing ball of light here by the floor?" A glowing ball? Where? I tried to squint my way through the darkness that was eating me up but to no avail. I felt warmth all around me and desperately tried to get closer to that warmth.
But then an annoying voice began a speech. One he seemed to have practiced. "You, with nowhere to go and nowhere to return, I grant you a place to belong. My name is Yato. Bearing a posthumous name, you shall remain here. With this name, I make thee my servant. With this name and its alternate, I use my life to make thee a Regalia! Thou art Tsuki! As Regalia, Kae. Come, Kaeki!" Unwillingly, I felt my soul expand and dart across the sky, into the view of the hungry moon. All too quickly, I were grasped by a disgusting, sweaty hand. It made me shiver.
"Oh! She's nice and balanced. Light for an odachi. If she's this long, I wonder how tall she is." The voice spoke. Come to think of it, I wondered the same thing. Why didn't I remember anything? It was odd, right? "Let's find out. Revert, Tsu-"
"Smells nice..." There was a voice that chilled my spine. I found I was able to open my eyes. Afterwards, I closed them. T-That thing was hideous. A spider the size of a gas station. Not only that, it was yellow. Like the sun. My least favorite color. It was ugly. To me, it meant arrogance, cowardice and betrayal. Why though? What did that mean?
Slice!
I could feel as I slid through a slimy, icky thing. I almost threw up. I felt my body unwillingly hacking at that weird spider thing. But I was as light as air. I soared through the sky. The moon reflected off me.
A sweaty hand gripped my hilt even harder. "You, who would desecrate this land of the rising sun! With my advent, I, the Yato god, lay waste with the Kaeki and expel thy vast defilement!" My body felt heated. Light blinded my sight. "Rend!" There was a clean slice. Anyone could hear it from miles away. There was panting for a moment and I waited patiently.
"Revert, Tsuki!"
I felt my body change. Suddenly, I looked at the world from a shorter perspective. I blinked briefly. It was silent. "EW! THAT WAS WEIRD AND DISGUSTING." I exclaimed. I desperately tried to wipe away any slime that might have tainted my skin. I looked down at my clothes. "What's this?" Suddenly, my voice was soft and quiet. I toyed with the ribbon. I was clad in a white robe that was tied securely around my waist.
"S-She's short." It was the same voice who had spoken earlier. He was the same one who talked about how I was a ball of light. What light? I've been clouded in darkness my whole life. A bitter voice told me. Where'd that come from? My cheeks flushed at the comment he made, but I kept my eyes downcast.
A female voice spoke up. "Yukine-kun! No need to be rude. She's probably nervous." Strong hands were placed on my shoulders. Different from the sweaty ones, that's for sure. "Come on, Tsuki-chan." Her hands led me elsewhere.
"Tsukine," A voice corrected, the same one who said all those stupid speeches about defilement and regalias and whatnot. "Tsuki is just too formal. Tsukine's her reborn name." Tsukine. This was my name now. But what did he mean by reborn? Was I born before? I couldn't remember. If he was the one who named me, why did he pick Tsuki if it was too formal? Man he was dense.
Oh it was like a puzzle I couldn't solve.
