Marian Hawke (Apostate, The Champion): The second oldest Hawke sibling
o Marian practices elemental magic and later specializes as a Force Mage
o After Leandra's death, her attitude changes from humorous to aggressive
o She sides with the mages during Meredith's annulment of the Circle
Fenris: Marian is enraptured by Fenris, despite his intolerance for magic and mages. While at first, she was persistent in simply being his friend, he did not turn away her romantic flirts or advances. Their relationship soon became romantic, but complicated due to Danarius' pursuit of his former slave. Though it took time, Marian continued to stand by Fenris' side, and the two become inseparable.
Varric Tethras: Marian adores Varric as much as is humanely possible for a best friend. The two of them are both quick witted and silver-tongued and have an increasingly heated debate going about who is the better Wicked Grace player. There is never any question that they will always have each other's backs, no matter what. As for the rumors going around that they are romantically involved, there is always capital to be made off a rumor, right? Varric's nickname for her is Giggles.
Aveline Vallen: Marian has a great deal of respect for Aveline. With how much craziness goes on in Kirkwall, she feels much better about having Aveline around to witness situations first-hand rather than trying to explain it all to her later. Underneath all the professionalism, however, Marian is well aware that Aveline is a big softie and absolutely teases her for it.
Merrill: Marian doesn't know what to think of Merrill. On the one hand, she's naïve and innocent in many regards and just wants to pick flowers all day, which is absolutely adorable. On the other, she actively practices blood magic, which concerns Marian endlessly. She worries for Merrill and doesn't bring her with on missions very often, because she doesn't want to risk tarnishing Merrill's reputation/lifestyle by exposing her blood magic practices.
Isabela: Marian likes Isabela, but she was never close friends with her. The pirate's appetite for sex of all kinds was shocking to Marian and was not an interest they shared. However, Marian overestimated their friendship when she discovered that Isabela was the reason the Qunari were in Kirkwall. When Isabela begged Marian to let her leave with the Tome of Koslun, Marian agreed, thinking that Isabela would bring it back later, but she never did. Isabela vanished without a trace, which irks Marian even though she had said that Isabela could go.
Anders: Marian loathes Anders. She can't stand being around him and his pretentious attitude but tolerates his presence only because he saved Bethany's life in the Deep Roads by leading them to the Grey Wardens. His previous life experience with the Wardens was the only reason she brought him along on the mission in the first place. When Anders blows up the Chantry, Marian executes him on the spot with no remorse.
Sebastian Vael: Marian thinks Sebastian is attractive, but she harbors no special feelings for him. She understands that he's chosen his lifestyle for a reason, and though she does encourage him to take his rightful place as ruler of Starkhaven, she doesn't object when he chooses to remain with the Chantry.
Carver Hawke: Marian and Carver had a friendly rivalry growing up, but during their escape from Lothering, Carver was killed by an Ogre before any of the other siblings could intervene. To this day, she wonders if there was something she could've done to save her brother.
Bethany Hawke: As a fellow mage, Marian and Bethany were close growing up. They received special training from their father and would spend a lot of time together practicing spells. The two sisters both specialized in elemental and primal magic, with Marian later becoming a Force Mage and Bethany becoming a Spirit Healer. When Bethany contracted the taint in the Deep Roads, Marian brought her to the Grey Wardens, and at the time, she was convinced she was never going to see her sister again. This proved false more than once, and their reunions were always ones of bittersweet relief.
