Fate . . . it was real.

But someone who could control their own fate . . . was also real.

He's the one who could choose his own destiny . . . Zeke thought.

He secretly planned his grand scheme of his life and others. The whole world too, it had to go according to his plan.

It wouldn't be for long now.

Zeke lay on his bed in his cell, waiting for someone to escort him out - anyone but Levi Ackerman. He knew the plan was to have Levi guard Zeke in the forest of giant trees at the edge of the city, until they are given the heads up to proceed with the plan. He had given Hange his word that he would accept the will of the council, whether it was a go or no go. But of course, he wasn't going to keep it if it didn't go his way. He had bigger plans and he needed to get to Eren. He just needed to escape from this place first.

It's most likely that Levi would be the one to escort him, so trying to fight his way out was off the table. But he could maybe persuade the Ackerman with his words.

Yeah, that's it. If it's any other soldier, he'd fight it out. But if it's Levi, well, in that case he might have to do some manipulating.

The door to his cell opened. Zeke pretended to be asleep, so he could attack that person when they came to wake him up.

Clip!

Cold metal grazed his chin followed by a snip. Zeke's eyes widened.

Hange had just clipped half of his beard.

"You - what did you just do to me?" He retreated against the wall, but he couldn't escape that far. Hange was still leaning over him on the bed.

"Ah . . . sorry. I saw a monkey pretending to be sleeping so I just couldn't help it," Hange chuckled. She wrapped Zeke's beard with a cloth and secured it in a small box which was vaporing some white smoke.

Zeke looked around the room. Hange was here alone.

Ah. Of all the possibilities, he hadn't prepared for this one. He had no plan on how to deal with Hange Zoe.

"I thought the Ackerman was supposed to escort me?" he tried to ask.

"Oh. He'll be here soon, but I came here first. For . . ." Hange closed the lid on the box, and the vapor disappeared. She held it up for Zeke to see. He wasn't sure what else could be inside, but he was curious on what was keeping it cool.

Hange was trying to preserve his facial hair with some ice-like substance . . . Does this mean she's taking a sample of me?!

Reiner and Berthold had told him about Hange's experiments with abnormals. Onyankopon and Yelena only reported that she was an inventor. This was probably due to the fact that there were no more titans left for her to experiment on.

So you're using me as a lab rat now?

Zeke held up his arms, acting defeat. But in his mind, he planned to choke her if she got any closer. She's not Levi . . . he's not afraid to fight.

"Do what you want. I've been through it all. Extracting my spinal fluid, taking my blood, cutting pieces of my flesh. They've already taken every part of me to study."

"Really? So I'm just copying other people's work?" She poked her head close to him. Zeke was completely unprepared when she grabbed his hand and twisted him into a bodylock. She pressed his head down on the mattress.
