Cassidy > For the time being. But I fear that if this situation goes on for much longer, the quality of the work rendered will diminish.

Mark > Mr. Simons seems to be saying the opposite, and he's her manager. Are you sure about what you're stipulating?

Cassidy > I know what I'm talking about. I saw Miss Lawson, spending more time in the break room than in front of her screen. I don't know if caffeine has a therapeutic effect on her "personal problem", but what's certain is that during that time, her work doesn't progress.

I see red. She's clearly trying to provoke me. I grit my teeth and stand up, leaning towards her. She cowers, but Gabriel puts his hand on my arm.

> You assure things that aren't true, Miss Sparke. How can you be so sure?

Cassidy > It's just common sense, Miss Lawson. Your work is mainly done in front of a computer, not in a break room.

> Do you have any idea what my job is, anyway? I take the tasks I'm entrusted with very seriously...

Cassidy > I know perfectly well what a communications officer does, thank you.

Ok. She got me there.

> Still, there's something I don't understand. How can you assure such things, knowing that you are also supposed to be present at your post?

Cassidy > How dare you?!

I think I stepped over the line. I lean back in my chair and try to get a grip. I need this job, I can't afford to lose it! Cassidy may be the worst bitch to have ever walked this earth, but she's the one holding the cards right now. She can fire me with a snap of her fingers!

Cassidy > You're going too far, Miss Lawson!

She stares at me, a discreet but sneaky grin on her face, making me feel like my time has come.

Cassidy > Gentlemen, there's the proof that as well as being of bad faith, Miss Lawson is also impertinent.

Mark > Miss Lawson, please mind not to cross the line and remain respectful when addressing a superior.

I nod, embarrassed. I know I crossed the line, but she pushed me into it.

Mark > As for you, Miss Sparke, don't you think you're exaggerating a little? The feedback from her colleagues and the clients for whom she worked under Mr. Simons' guidance are all pretty positive.

Cassidy > Letting this go would be giving our other staff a bad example, encouraging them to do the same, which would be most unfortunate.

Mark Leviels takes off his glasses and pinches the bridge of his nose still glancing discreetly at his smartphone. I guess he has more important things to deal with than my work contract.

Mark > What do you propose then? A suspension?

I see my future at Carter Corp flash before my eyes. Completely powerless, I look at my manager for support.

Gabriel > Aren't you taking this all a little too far?

Cassidy > I was thinking more along the lines of transferring her to a smaller department. Or even firing her altogether, given her impertinence.

I almost choke on her words. She wouldn't dare, would she? If I'm fired because of her, I'll have no qualms to push her down the stairs, or perhaps through a window?

> You can't do that! I have done absolutely nothing wrong, and you have no reason to...

Cassidy > On the contrary, I think that the impertinence you have just shown is a more than valid reason.
