Chapter 4: A Lie and New Job?!

Before I could even say "Baka!", my father began to apologize rapidly, not missing a syllable. He repeated it and repeated it, not taking any breaths. He had a fractured arm from falling off a latter, and I know it's nothing to be mad over, but there's another part to the story. HE DID IT ON PURPOSE!!! My father is not one to be so clumsy as to fall off things, so I knew something was up. He did it just to get out of work. With my mom gone, there's no one else that can work, so guess who has to? Me, that's who! I felt Miku's gentle hands on my shoulders, but didn't care to look back. I bowed my head and avoided eye contact. "You're a failure as a father." And with that, I angrily strolled out of the room.

The text was kind of misleading, it's nothing terrible. Of course I'm glad it's mild, I just wish he hadn't lied. He's really an idiot, but I guess I'm glad he's okay, he is my last parent, after all. He embarrassed me, in front of the only people that accepted me. "Hey, Rin, do you want us to come with you to find a new job?" I heard Len-kun as he caught up to me. I couldn't hold back the tears, I didn't want them to think badly of me. Them, having rich parents and glorious mansions, and the there's me, the poor girl with a failure father.

I turned back to glance a Len-kun with my tears eyes and I could see his shocked emotion. "I-I'm really sorry, Len-kun... I'm sorry for wasting your time... I-I... I'll go now." I placed my arms at my sides, but suddenly felt a tug on my wrist. The next thing I knew, I was in the warm arms of the blonde boy, who was way taller than me. My eyes widened. Without me even knowing my arms were around his waist.

"Rin, don't be sorry. You didn't waste my time, I'm glad I could spend it with you. You're still my friend, and..." A blush covered my cheeks. "And nothing...else." I could hear the hesitation in his tone. This was the boy who had no trouble getting any girl he wanted, so why was he being so stuttery over telling me we're nothing more than friends? Unless...

"Thank you, Len." I squeezed him and enjoyed the warmth. Soon, I heard a distinct cough, that was obviously fake, and looked behind Len. There was Miku-San, with a sly smirk, and the others looking mischievous. I blushed even darker, remarkably, and jumped out of his arms. He gave a smirk and placed his elbow on my head, leaning on me. "S'up, guys." He said so serenely.

How could he be so calm?! Is it because he's used to it, or what? Well, I don't know and I don't care! "L-let's go." I stuttered and began to walk away, speed walking.

Well, it's time for me to find a new job. I'm horrible at cooking, but I'm very good at waitressing, so maybe I'll get a job at the cafe down the street? I've heard the pay's not bad, or at least that's what I've heard from a friend of mine, though she goes to another school. Hmm, it's decided! I'll be a waitress.

I smile and stroll out of the hospital with pride, the group coming after me not too far behind. "You guys can go home, I don't want to trouble you." I turned to face them. Miku-San smiled and ran up to me. "Rinny! We're here to support you! That's what friends are for!" Her smile was beautiful and I could only wish I was like her. I gave a grin and nodded.

By the time we got to the cafe, it was packed. People were everywhere and no waitress was to be seen. Only waiters. Since they're noble, the others were given special seats. I told them I was going to the back to meet the manager and that I would meet up with them later.

~Len's POV~

We waited for at least 2 hours just for Rin to be done. Gosh, how long do these kind of interviews take? Finally, FINALLY, I heard the high tone of the distinct blonde. I smiled, and looked back, but the sight made me blush and go wide-eyed.

It was Rin....
