During the whole Saturday evening, Mei couldn't help but look up at the sky through the windows of the hospital only to stare at the full moon. There's not an actual reason on why she did it, half the times she found herself doing so without even noticing. But yet, the worry was constant. The moment they met, Cassey had told her that werewolves had to take a mandatory check up every four months in case of hidden injury or infection due to the wolf transformation, although they never got any harm. A few days ago, when they texted, this idea was repeated. That didn't calm Mei's dull heart.

Her mind kept wondering away to the possible dangers that Cas could endure, even if a small bit of her mind questioned if these would even be realistic. Getting in a fight with other werewolves? Some freak going to the forest for hunting reasons? Worse?

When she woke up the next day at 5pm, the first thing she did was to text Cassey asking how they were. No immediate answer. Its fine, they probably didn't have their phone nearby.

Mei finished taking her vitamins and checked her phone again. No answer. No need to worry, it had been barely ten minutes, nothing was wrong! She told herself.

A good thing is that on Friday the vampire had managed to get some time and buy more canvases. The days before had been busy, so she hadn't got the chance to paint. Today was Sunday, so... well, today there should be the time to get ready and paint, right?

Wrong.

Mei spent at least 20 minutes staring at the blank canvas, pencil in one hand, sketch on the other. Her arm moved up and down, tracing imaginary circles and lines into the painting surface without actually leaving any graphite on it. Even if her mind said art, her body disagreed, her brain refused. After accepting the fact that this wasn't going to change in a long time, Mei left out a frustrated growl, throwing the pencil all across the living room. Finding it would be a problem for the future.

Sinking down again in the couch, Mei checked her phone. Her relaxed and floppy pose straightened when a little bubble indicated that there was a new message. A new message from Cas.

How was this possible!? Had they sent it a long time ago!? Did they think she was ignoring them!? Why hadn't she heard it!?

The second she opened the chat, a new message arrived.

Cassey: tiiiiiiiiiireeeeeeeeeeeed

Too lazy to type, wanna call?

Oh. Oh, ok, um, this... couldn't go too terribly...

"Ey, Mei!" Cassey's voice exclaimed when they picked up, "Wha- Yes, Haze, I'm on a call with her. Shush!"

"Hey Cas! Am I interrupting something?"

"Nah, it's just Haze. I woke up from nap and ze- wait. What was that?" There was a second of silence before Cassey spoke again, "Ah, alright. Haze says hi. Lol."

"Hi to you too?" Mei responded with a light chuckle.

"She says hi to you too! ... No, get the f- outta here, you pumpkin head! Anyways- How ya doing Mei?"

"Heh, not much going on, recently woke up..."

"Me too! I was having a nap. But I'm not that sleepy anymore. Haze disagrees, but I don't care. Saw your text, what did ya wanna talk 'bout?"

"I-" Cassey's voice sounded a bit different, probably due to the lack of sleep, "Well, I was wondering how did it go last night? With the moon and all..."

"Ah, that. Glad you asked, its cute! It was fun, I think. My memory is a bit fuzzy to be honest. I did chase a squirrel, I remember I had fun with that, but I don't remember exactly what I did with it. Pretty sure I didn't eat it, but I can't be completely sure. Apart from that, I think nothing big happened. I don't have any broken bones nor big hurts, so I'll consider it a good moon!"
