Chapter 20 -Knuckles realized his love for Sonic part 2/2

A/N: This chapter involves a little bit of the song Close to you by: Carpenters. Here's where Knuckles actually falls in love with Sonic Enjoy. Especially for you Sonic_little_sis I know you will like this too.

Mike and Denise were the most anxious to know how Knuckles noticed his feelings for Sonic. JJ just wanted to get on with the story.

That's when JJ asked Knuckles, "Okay Romeo. Can ya get to not keep my foster Dad and sister in suspense?"

Knuckles protested, "Umm. My name is Knuckles JJ." Thats when JJ said in a dull tone, "Just get to the part where ya actually realized you fell in love with Sonic."

Knuckles said, "Okay. So anyway. After I figured out that Charlie and Belinda faked their truce with us and was going to destroy me once again with his now fixed tin suit. That's when it happened..."

<flashback>

Knuckles kept getting pulverized by Charlie while fighting Charlie himself.

Knuckles then got knocked down with one swift punch. But as Knuckles was about be defeated, Sonic spindashed Charlie to a corner. The blue hedgehog landed on his two feet while glaring at Charlie.

With rage Charlie said, "THIS DOES NOT CONCERN YOU!"

Sonic then said with stern and anger in his voice, "You are a being real bully Charlie! Back off, Knuckles has done nothing but trying to make up for his 'mistakes' he did to you in the past! Yet you turned into a super villain all cause Knuckles got you fired and almost ended your marriage?! You are pathetic! He didn't mean any harm to you and he never has. He maybe a menace to you but to me. He's someone with a big heart and that's something I find in him."

Though flattered Sonic rushed to save him, Knuckles couldn't help but look at Sonic with a blush.

Knuckles thought, "Oh my...Here it goes again. Stop that heart. Please." He was too busy looking at Sonic to pay attention to what he was saying to Charlie. Knuckles thought while Sonic was now battling

Charlie, "Why can't I stop looking and thinking about him?" Knuckles then wondered the same thing about 5 times. Until he realized something as he gasped with surprise.

He thought as he had a nervous look with a blush, "Am I in love with Sonic The Hedgehog!?! No! He's my best friend! He's a boy!"

He then looks at Sonic finishing his fight with Charlie while Sonics blue fur glimmered in the light as he thought with a calm expression on Knuckles face, "Then again... It doesn't actually matter. I'll haft to admit... When I'm alone with him, I see a real adorable and slightly compassionate side of him. Sonic is actually kinda cute, beautiful, and so shiny."

He then starts to sing as he smiled and  looks at Sonic with a star struck look.

The song starts:

Knuckles: Why do birds suddenly appear
Every time you are near? ( Sonic stretch's after Charlie ran off as birds fly by and Sonic smiled with glee as Knuckles gazed at the blue glimmering hedgehog.) Just like me, they long to be
Close to you (Sighs lovingly while wanting to be at Sonics side) Why do stars fall down from the sky
Every time you walk by? (Sonic comes to his side as his emerald green eyes shined like stars)

Close to you. (He stands up as Sonic stopped and stood in front of him, which made Knuckles shy and nervous but with a smile.)

The singing ends as Sonic asked, "You okay Knux?" Knuckles sighs and said as he sits down, "Probably. But it doesn't change the fact that Charlie is now our enemy."

Sonic say next to him and said, "Hey no need to blame yourself for this Knux. If he wants to be a villain? That's his problem not ours."

Sonic placed his hand on Knuckles hand which made the red echidna blushed a bright red as Knuckles thought while looking at Sonic with a smile, "He actually does have a caring side. Never thought he would be the type to have a soft side. I may have some competition but can't let that stop me. I love Sonic. It may take me a while to confess. So that will haft to wait."

Sonic then stood up and said, "Come on. Let's go to Meh burger for lunch." Knuckles immediately stood up and said, "I'm paying."

Sonic was surprised at that before he said, "Wait Knuckles ya don't haft to..."

Knuckles interrupted, "No. no. I insist Sonic. It's the least I can do after saving me from Charlie back there."

With a defeated sigh, Sonic accepted his offer before the two walked off. During the walk to Meh Burger, Knuckles couldn't help but look at Sonics innocent smile.

Knuckles finished his story, "That was how I realized I actually fallen in love with Sonic. I care about him so much. I care about him 15 times more than Amy ever could. I've been watching him from a far. Plus I always step in when Amy fails to win Sonics affection and I did better than her when I stepped in for Sonic when their picnic got ruined. But that's another story."

JJ looked at his foster father and sister before looking at him with a frown and said, "It went on until you noticed Sonics off behavior. I know you already answered but you are actually the only one. Aren't you?"

Knuckles sighed and said, "I am. After that day I noticed Sonics off behavior. It made me very worried for him. I still am."

Thats when Knuckles had a suspicious look on his face and said, "Still... There's something weird about that girl, Sonic hangs out with."

JJ said, "Alya? She showed up months ago. That's all we know. Look Knuckles I know you love him and your jealous but if you snoop around whatever situation Sonic is in... Chances are you may get yourself involved."

Denise and Mike nodded in agreement as Denise said, "I'm with JJ on it Knuckles. This situation maybe dangerous. But if you wanna know what's wrong with Sonic, then we won't stop you."

Knuckles replied with a smile, "Thanks guys." JJ, Denise, and Mike replied, "Your welcome."
