Everyone in the room was nearly bouncing with excitement for homecoming the next day. Everyone except Noah. He hated everything about homecoming; the shitty food, the terrible music, at least 4 couples hooking up, everyone dancing and being reckless, and it was always so loud. However, he always went if a certain short gap-toothed boy asked him to.

"Noah!" Speak of the devil. Cody plopped down into his seat beside Noah and began flipping through papers in his backpack. He pulled out a half completed sheet of math homework. "Excited for homecoming?"

The other boy shrugged and looked down at his book, "Not as excited as other people apparently..." Cody looked around the room and multiple people excitedly discussing outfits and dates.

"I'm just excited to show off my sweet moves on the dance floor."

Noah laughed, "Don't you need 'sweet moves' to show them off?" Cody faked offense at the joke and lightly punched Noah's shoulder. "Anyway, why didn't you finish your homework for sixth?"

He looked at Noah with a pleading look. "Please help me, I have no clue what we're doing. Why are there letters and numbers?!"

Noah laughed and took out a sheet of notebook paper. "Okay, so we're trying to find the slope of the line. Slope-intercept form is y=mx+b. Question one: 14x+ 2y = 16. So you subtract 2y from this side, and subtract 2y from the other side. Then you take this..."

"Kitty Huang, Heather Kasuga, and Sierra Skyze to my office. Kitty Huang, Heather Kasuga, and Sierra Skyze to my office." Kitty slowly stood up and grabbed her bag, trying to ignore the whispers and 'oooooooh she's in trouble' from her classmates. She had absolutely no idea what was going on, but she knew she was in trouble; Chris never called anybody to his office unless they were in trouble. When she got there she saw Heather and Sierra sitting outside of the office.

"Have a seat, he'll be out in a second." The girl at the front desk said. She took a seat next to Heather.

"Why are we here?" Kitty asked in a low voice. The older girl just shrugged. Before she could question more, the door opened and a pissed off Chris walked out.

"We need to have a little chit chat." He said and turned around, the three girls following him. Once they all sat down, he explained what was happening. "Why did you write that story?"

The girls shared confused looks before Heather spoke up, "What story?"

He reached into a draw and slammed a newspaper on his desk, pointing to a specific article; the one Kitty wrote about Chris and Chef dating. "Why did you think it would be acceptable to publish a story on my personal life? And you didn't even use a good picture of me!"

"Uh, what do you want us to do about it?" Sierra asked the angry principal.

He glared at her, "Remove it!"

"You know that everyone already seen it, right? That issue went out three days ago." Kitty explained. Chris collapsed in his seat and put a hand to his head.

"Fine. All three of you have detention after school today."

Heather shot out of her seat and slammed her hands on the desk, "Hell no! You can't give us detention for our freedom of speech!"

Chris nonchalantly replied, "Yes I can. Today, room 107, til 3:30." She was about to keep arguing, but Chris just held up a finger. "Nope, zip it. Detention. Today. After school. Now, leave my office and get to class." The girl huffed and stormed out of the room, Kitty and Sierra following behind.

Later, Kitty and Emma were walking down the hallway at the end of the day. "Just text me when you need to be picked up." Emma said when they approached the door.

"Thanks, Em."

Of course, the older sister had to comment, "You know this won't look good on college applications, right?"

Kitty rolled her eyes, "Yup, so instead of going to college I'm becoming a stripper."

"What? No, you have to go to college and get a stable job and-"

"See you later, Emma!" She cut her off and walked into the detention room. Kitty looked around and saw Heather, Sierra, Duncan, and Lindsey. Towards the front of the room Don, the assistant principal, sat down reading a magazine. She decided to sit next to Lindsey. "Why are you here?"

"Oh, I told Ms. Blandly that her new haircut reminds me of my dogs butt, but she totally took it the wrong way; my dog has the cutest little butt ever!" She quickly took out her phone and showed Kitty a few pictures of her dog.

"Do you mean Ms. Blainely?" Kitty asked, confused on which teacher she was referring to. The blonde nodded and went back to Instagram scrolling.

Detention finished soon enough and Kitty went outside to wait for Emma. After ten minutes of nobody there, she decided to walk home. It wasn't too far of a walk, but it still sucked. She turned and began walking towards the sidewalk.

"Kitty, wait!" She was almost out of the parking lot when she heard her name. Kitty saw her friend, Sammy, running towards her. Sammy stopped a few feet away from the girl. "Uh, I had cheerleading practice, and it just ended, so I- uh... can I walk you home?"

Kitty smiled, "Of course."
