The Throne Room

You walk down the hallways of the large castle, thinking about one thing.

"Alex, are you sure this is a good plan?"

"You were the one who suggested we get the king."

"Well, now I'm having second thoughts."

"Too bad, we're almost to the throne room."

"What?!"

You keep walking down the hallways, and Alex seems to know them well. Seems like someone must have shown her the castle.

She starts to break the silence.

"So, uh-whats the deal with Jevil? Why do you like him so much?"

"..."

"Well, he's ... Um... Nice. And... Fun. I guess.."

You keep walking along the hallway, and the castle is still oddly quiet.

" Alex, are you sure you know where we're going? "

" Sure, Rouxls walks through the castle all the time. "

Alex turns the corner and heads towards the elevator. She hits the button titled

" Throne room"

And in smaller, messier print,

" Don't go in there!!"

Hmph. Looks like an animal wrote that or something.

"Alex, who wrote that?"

"Probably a Ruddin."

Alex looks at your confused expression.

" A snake."

A snake wrote that?

The elevator stops at the wrong floor.

"Y/N, put your cloak on!" Alex whisper-yells and she puts her cloak over her head and tucks her hair in.

A strange blue figure wearing a navy vest walks in.

"R-rouxls?!"

And she said my crush was weird...

" Whateth is thou doing?" He spies the lighted up elevator floor on the button pad.

" Why is thoust heading into thy kings throne room?!"

" W-well, Rouxls, it's not important, we just need to...see the king for a minute...so we can go home."

She sounded uncertain. Half of it was because her crush just appeared in front of her, and the other half was because, well, you both didn't really have a plan. Or a reason to go home at all.

"Well, thou needs to be careful. I have to delivereth word to the kingeth thateth a certainteth prisoner has gone looseeth."

You uncontrollably giggled a little.
This guy was hilarious. The way he talked, how did Alex not burst out laughing each time?!

And then you actually though about what he said.

A prisoner? Escaped?!

"Oh, okay, Rouxls..." Alex said as Rouxls stepped in the elevator.

A small amount of time passed and the elevator stopped.

"Be careful." He said as he walked out.

You and Alex stepped out of the elevator and watched Rouxls approach the king as you both slowly followed.

You turned the corner and saw the king. He was terrible. He had one spade where his eyes should be, a black cape, a blue tongue, and a second mouth on his chest with a spade tail coming out of it. It was the most hideous thing you had ever seen.

He spoke in a deep voice.

"What is it, Rouxls?"

"Thoust prisoner hath escapedeth, thy great king."

" W h i c h  o n e?"

His voice gave you chills.

" The court jestereth, King."

The court jester? Was he talking about Jevil?

" Well then, send some Ruddin Rangers out to GET HIM!"

"AND KILL EM WHILE YOU'RE AT IT! I'M TIRED OF HIS USELESS RAMBLE!"

You flinched at his last order. He couldn't just kill people like that!

Rouxls was also a little surprised, but not for long.

" You know what, no. Send those rangers to bring him to me. I haven't killed in a long time, it will feel nice to finally draw blood again." He laughed.

" And bring those pesky Lightners here too. I've gotten word they're on the loose again. I want them. I'll get rid of them too."

He said it casually. Too casually. He sounded like an actual murderer.

Rouxls nodded his head and headed to the elevator. You looked at him with eyes sharp as daggers.

He left through the elevator quickly.

Alex seemed to get ready to approach the king.

"Alex, what are you doing?!" You whispered.

"Listen, maybe we're in a different dimension. But whatever we're going to do, we got to get rid of the killer king. Or at least make it so he isn't trying to find and kill us."

" Alex, I'm not ready to almost get killed!"

" Then you better give yourself some major pep talk cuz we got to stand up and face this bitch!"

She was right. You were hiding behind a slither of wall next to the elevator. You couldn't stay there. The rangers would use the elevator to...bring Jevil to the king.

You both stood up and you made sure your dagger was still in your scabbard. You also practiced summoning your shield a few times so it became more natural.

And finally, you and Alex both nod to each other as you calmly step forward and approach the king.
