Chapter 5

Tanjiro and the rest of the trio were unconscious in the Butterfly Estate ward. Tanjiro woke up first to see the other two still asleep. "Ah, I see you have woken up, You have a message from the Master himself." a girl with blue eyes and black hair walked towards me with a letter. 

(Tanjiro's POV)

"Dear Tanjiro Kamado

I have heard about the Natagumo Incident. Please I would like to hear what happened from you since the beginning. I want you to present yourself before the hashira and their Tsugukos as well. I will see you on the 5th of July.

Oyakata Ubayashiki"

I put down the letter and got out of bed. I went down the hallway outside and found some heavy rocks trees and wooden swords. I walked up to the training gear and started training. "Tanjiro! What are you doing out of bed?!" Shinobu, the insect hashira yelled. "Oh, I wasn't injured so I started practising Total Concentration Breathing Constant. I am still learning it, but Urokodaiki suggested it to me." "Well, that can be helped since Kanao is also learning it but still can't make 7 days in a row." WOW. JUST WOW. Kanao can do that. Well, I better start catching up. 

(Time-skip to 5th of July)

I followed Shinobu and Kanao to the master's mansion. I followed them to the garden where their meeting was held. The hashira were there chatting and teaching their tsugukos. Giyu was the only one without one. "Tanjiro, how are you doing. I see you have been practising total concentration breathing." "Yeah, and I have finally mastered it." We were chatting when Oyakata came and I saw his incurable disease. I bowed as the others did the same. "Master, I pray for your good health," Gyomei said. "Thank you, Tanjiro who I have summoned along with the others. I wish that we all agree on one thing which is Tanjiro becoming a Hashira. I know it sounds absurd but, due to the events on Mount Natagumo, I believe he has the potential to defeat Muzan." Oyakata said. "Also he has met with Muzan in Asakusa." "NNNNAAAAANNNNIIIII!" Everyone exclaimed. "Yeah, but he escaped, He also sent assassins to try and kill me." The Hashira were shocked. "Tanjiro, do you accept your position as Hinokami Hashira or Sun Hashira." "Wait, SUN HASHIRA?!" Rengoku yelled. "I accept if it is to end the demon race and help the human race." "Good, let's welcome and help Tanjiro as much as possible. Oh yeah, can you send this to Tamayo next time?" I nodded and took the letter and then a cat meowed. "Oh, seems like Tamayo has come to receive the message. Safe travels." I said when the cat disappeared. 

"Now the meeting shall begin. We need to bolster the ranks." "Our calibre of Slayers has dropped drastically," Shinazugawa said. "Well the fact is on Mount Natagumo, we need teach the slayer the basics again and do massive amounts of training. But we can't leave the entire of Japan undefended." Shinobu said. "How about this, to make sure the life span of each of our slayers is longer, we split them into squads, 2 inexperienced and 2 experienced or of higher rank. This way, the chance in missions will be higher. We can name these groups according to the leader or by how they operate or depending on their breath style, for example, Thunder squad, or as some people call my trio, the kamaboko squad. But to qualify for a group, you need to pass a mission alone and then be able to join a squad." (OI, STOP BREAKING THE FOURTH WALL, I NEED TO SHUT THIS DUDE UP ABOUT THE FOURTH WALL.)  "That is an interesting idea, but what happens if there is a strong demon?" Giyu asked. "Then we send 3 squads, and 2 hashira to help, if that is not enough, then I don't know what is," I replied. Then all the hashira agreed that this had the highest chance of survival. 

Later when I was returning to the Butterfly estate with Giyu, Shinobu, and Kanao, I started talking to Kanao. "Hey Kanao, can we talk once we reach the estate in private, at night." She nodded and I was ready to confess my feelings. 

(Kanao's POV)

Tanjiro, wants to talk to me at night? I like him, more than a friend but I am afraid that he might not feel the same. I need to talk to Nee-chan about this. I knocked and entered, "Shinobu, what happens if you have strong feelings towards someone and they don't have the same feelings?" I asked. "Well, you can move on is the first one, or you can continue trying until they feel the same," Shinobu said. 

(Tanjiro's POV) (Timeskip)

Well, Kanao, told me to come out here, under the cherry blossom tree. "Hello, You wanted to talk right," Kanao said as she jumped down from the tree. "Yeah, From the first time we met, I knew I had fallen in love with you, so I want to confess my feelings to you, I would like you to be my girlfriend. It's ok if you don't feel the same, but I just wanted to tell you that I love you." I said trying to keep myself calm. "I feel, the exact same way about you, and yes, I would like to be your girlfriend." Then we had our first kiss.

The next day

"TANJIRO, WHERE ARE YOU?!" "TONTARO, COME OUT AND FIGHT ME!" The two shouted. "Oi, cool your heads, I am right here, I said as I walked in with Kanao. "Tanjiro, please get me out of this place, this is like hell," Kanao said to Zenitsu with a kind smile. "Well, you can get out of here once you have fully recovered and had rehabilitation training." "HUUUUHH. TRAINING!?" "Zenitsu, calm down, Training is simple, win against Aoi and Kanao," I said. "YOU SAY THAT IS EASY, I SAW HER FIGHT A DEMON WITH EASE, AND WIN AS WELL." THUD. "STOP WHINING LIKE A CRYBABY. If you don't train and kill demons like on Mount Natagumo, you will never get stronger." Zenitsu shut his whining mouth and nodded. "Oni-chan!" "Nezuko!" I said as I saw my younger sister running towards me. "Good to see you again, How's Urokodaiki doing?" "I am just fine thanks." I looked up to see my master. "Sensei!" "Good to see you, my boy, I heard you became the Sun Hashira." "WHHHHAAAAAATTTTT?! WHEN, WHERE, HOW?" Zenitsu shouted. I just explained that when he was still unconscious, The hashira had a meeting and I was also summoned and got promoted to Hashira. "Also Kanao is my girlfriend," I said to Nezuko who was happy about my relationship and Zenitsu fainted, Inosuke was challenging me to a fight. I was sweating at their attitudes. "Oh yeah, I passed Final selection and now I am a Demon Slayer." "That great. The corps set up a new system so that the chance of your survival is higher, So I guess you have already passed your first mission." "Yep, I am supposed to join the Kamaboko squad. Which the crow said I could meet them here since most of the mare injured." "Well, you just happen to be looking at the group," I said and my sister squealed in happiness because of working with me.
