"And the battle rages on as the duo are struggling to be the champion!"
You could have heard how loud it was when the spectators roared in enthusiasm towards the final round.
The annual Royal Phoenix Teen Tournament was one of the largest tournaments ever. The best fighter in every local school will have to participate in this tournament by the decree of King Audric himself, and the winner of the tournament will receive a mysterious gift declared by Queen Ariana.
Usually, the best fighters would always be males, but the fighter from Swift Wing Fighters School is just the opposite.
"Come back here you... you scaredy bird!" a coarse voice bellowed from the opponent as he tried to hammer down her with his spiky and large mallet, so large that head of the mallet was twice as big as his size. A strong fighter with his biceps packed with so much muscles kept on aiming at the girl and hammered down at the right target, but kept missing and felt even furious and frustrated each time he missed.
The girl looked slim and looked as though she was weaker than him, but she was zigzagging away from the mallet at the speed of lightning, and in seconds, she tire her opponent, causing him to pant everytime he lifted his mallet again and again.
She, a student of Swift Wings Fighters School, was just like the wind, fast and always moving, and with extra agility and reflexes, she dived when she was close to getting hit and aimed for her opponent's legs with her sword, slashing his left foot half a centimetres deep and causing him to yell in pain. With her sharp cyan eyes, she continued to distract him, tiring him in the process.
Too angry to continue, the opponent raged and gave the ground a heavy blow, causing the ground to vibrate so massively it lifted her off into the air. He then jumped up and shouted,"You're going down!"
With a great swing of his mallet, she fell to the ground hard, causing it to crack. Everyone gasped at the sight, wondering if she was still alive.
The opponent came down with a crash near the cracked ground, and he boomed into a victorious laugh as he kept lifting his mallet up and down like he was punching the sky. When he stopped, he pointed to the ground where the crashlanding was and mocked,"Ha ha ha, you weakling! I knew that running would tire you-"
"It never does," a serious feminine voice announced and the fighter slowly rose from her defeated position, surprising the spectators and her opponent, except for King Audric, who was somewhat serious, observed the battle closely.
"I was never tired of running." the fighter continued, "It's too early to judge the victory on you. My name also symbolises speed and likewise, I love running. And besides, you were too slow just now when you tried hammering me again and again, though it was a hard one."
"Nobody talks about my weaknesses!" The opponent raged and swung his mallet towards the fighter, but then the fighter managed to jump away from the fatal blow and landed on his mallet.
The opponent saw her standing on the mallet and tried to shake her off, but she just knew what was he trying to do next and jumped off his mallet back onto the ground and frowned at him.
"This battle is so anti-climatic, you're just swinging that hammer here and there like you're sweeping dust," she criticized, "but why don't we end this right now?"
"That was what I am doing, you rascal," the alto tone rasped as he lifted his mallet and charged at her, who was still standing in a composed manner.
"Lose, you weakling!" he jumped till at the maximum point, he swung his mallet to his back before dealing a huge blow in front of him, where his opponent was standing.
Boom!
He stood down there, knees bent as he laughed at the downfall of his opponent. He laughed and laughed, till he felt an excruciating pain...
"This," the fighter, whom he had crushed, forced her sword's blade into his flesh at his back,"is for being too slow! Take this again! and this!" She rubbed the blade again and again into his flesh, and when she jumped high above the dumbfounded opponent, she did the same manoeuvre as her opponent when he jumped, only that she used her sword.
"And finally, this," she was up in the air and about to get back to the ground,"is for judging too much, saying that I'm a weakling and that I will lose!"
The sound emitted a dramatic hollow echo as she swung her sword to the front and slashed the opponent's chest, making him rage in pain as he fell, and before he could fall fully to the ground, she landed on his shiny and sweaty bald head and got back down safely to the ground, ignoring the sight of him on the ground, panting,"I lost..."
"As I said, I resemble speed and it never tires me. I am Seclinette." The girl fighter, now known as Seclinette, stood before the spectators as they hurrahed and cheered at the winner, knowing that the real victor is the only girl standing.
While they were cheering, King finally stood up from his seat and walked down the stairs towards Seclinette with a smile plastered onto his face.
"Your Majesty!" Seclinette hastily bowed as she saw King Audric.
"Rise, young fighter," he spoke, gesturing Seclinette to rise. "I was impressed to see that a fighter like you can have such far-fetched skills, and it's the very first time I've seen a female fighter win this year's tournament."
"It was nothing," Seclinette rubbed the back of her hair, before she suddenly stopped and instinctively added,"I mean, thank you Your Majesty."
"It is okay to express your feelings, young fighter," King Audric reassured, then faced the spectators and announced,"This year's champion is the fighter representating Swift Wings Fighters Academy!"
With a sudden uproar from the crowd and confetti floating in the air, the winner could not wait to meet her friends again.
____________________________________"Hurrah for Seclinette!" Persperphone, Seclinette's best friend, cheered as she hurriedly stuffed the last sashimi with a lot of wasabi in Seclinette's mouth.
Well, that was the punishment for Seclinette if she'd lose this year's tournament, but since there was too much wasabi, then Persperphone would throw it into the foodbin.
Unfortunately there was no foodbin in the stadium's resting corner, then the one and only 'foodbin' was none other than Seclinette.
"Wah! Hot hot hot hot!" Seclinette panted as she endured the fiery stinging in her tongue. When the stinging was over, she glared at Persperphone and shouted,"I'm okay with wasabi, but why did you put too much?!"
"I'm sho shorry, I thought you were sho good at it," Persperphone apologised, in a very baby-ish manner.
The kimono dressed girl was now packing her bento box in her favourite slingbag and afterwards, she thought of something and suddenly asked,"Hey Sec, what do you think the prize will be for this year?"
"I'm not sure," Seclinette shrugged her shoulders before taking a thick cloth and cleaning her sword. "I only remembered that the prize is something about two school enrolment forms or something."
"How can a prize be so boring with only enrolment papers as the prize?" Persperphone sighed, but before she could answer again, the Royal announcer and two guards entered the resting corner.
"Would the student from Swift Wings Fighters Academy please come forward so that we can escort you to Queen Ariana herself to collect the prize?"
"That's me," Seclinette raised her hand before pulling Persperphone's hand. While making their way to the announcer, some of the fighters stared at Seclinette in awe, whereas some of them, like the fighter who lost in the final round, gave her a cold stare as though she won by just pure luck.
"Sorry, but, can I bring my friend along too?" Seclinette pleaded.
"Sure, but your friend has to wait outside the palace, that is, if the Queen says so," the announcer replied, "This way please."
And so, they are now on their way to meet the Queen in the palace.
