Awkward Dinner

It felt like forever sitting in the movie theater with Mattia. The movie finally ended, and I was about to get up to go but Mattia pulled me back down.

"What's wrong?" I asked because I was confused on why he pulled me back into the seat.

"The end credits." He said not even looking my way.

After:

We walked out of the movie theater and walked across the street to this Italian restaurant. Mattia still was distant towards me. I thought during this dinner I could talk to him and explain that I actually wanted the necklace. I actually wanted to be with him. I actually wanted us to get back together after all that we've been through.

"Layla?" He called out. "Come on our table is open."

"Oh..Ok." I responded and followed him.

We sat down at the table, and I just stared at him. I wanted to say something, but I just couldn't get anything out. He didn't even try to make eye contact with me.

"You look like you want to say something Layla." He said looking away.

"Well, about the necklace..." I tried to say but he cut me off.

"It's okay you don't have to make excuses; I know you don't want it." He said and finally looked at me.

"No Mattia you don't know." I said and started to get angry.

"Finally, you look at me while I'm talking to you. I DO want the necklace Mattia. I DO want to get back together, and I DO love you." I looked at him.

He looked back at me with wide eyes.

I finally realized what I said.

"Excuse me." I said as I got up to use the bathroom. I moved out of my seat and walked fast to the bathroom.

"Layla!" I heard behind me, but I couldn't turn around and show him the tears that were forming.

I pushed the stall open and sat on one of the toilets covers. At this point I was sobbing; the mascara clouded my vision. Stupid mascara.

I heard the door to the bathroom open, other ladies in the bathroom gasped. Why did they gasp? I looked between the gap in the stall I was in. IT WAS MATTIA.

"Layla? Please come out." He said and put his hands over his eyes.

"What Mattia." I said and grabbed toilet paper to wipe my running mascara.

"I just want to talk to you." He answered.

"It's whatever. The necklace was just a friend gift." I said and sniffled.

"No, it wasn't." He said.

"Then what was it." I asked.

"It was...a let me be your boyfriend gift." He said.

The bathroom fell silent, I guess the woman next to me were surprised as well.

I walked out of the stall I was in "Really?" I looked up at him

"Yeah." He said still turned around.

I hugged him from behind and he held my hands.

"Now can we get out of here? I think this is really illegal." He said and turned my way.

"Yeah, your probably right." I said and giggled.

We sat back at our table and had a good dinner.
