 Chapter 3

~The Story So Far~

Therion and Akira set out to retrieve the dragonstones
At the behest of their owner, Cordelia Ravus.
In Noblecourt, he managed to take back,
The ruby stone from the scholar Orlick.

"Friends, brothers, partners..."

Therion once had someone just like that.
But before he could be waylaid by sentiment,

He and Akira made their way towards the black market in Wellspring,
In hopes of getting their hands on the emerald dragonstone.

Akira's POV

I freeze in my tracks. There's a bridge. On no...

"Akira." I look up to see Therion giving me a concerned look, "are you okay?"

I nod, "y-yeah. I'm fine! Why do you ask...?"

"What's the matter?" He holds my shoulders, "you're staring at the bridge like it's a bad memory."

I jerk. Has Heathcote told him? Did he tell him what happened eight years ago?

Wait, why would he be asking he knew? Nevermind.

"I-It's nothing, Therion."

"...Akira," he starts.

"We'd better get to Wellspring soon."

I take one step onto the bridge and hear the screams. I gasp, clutching onto the rope that supports the bridge, squeezing my eyes shut. I cling to the rope, seeing the girl clinging on for dear life, seeing my parents trying to help.

"Akira! Akira!"

I gasp, seeing Therion beside me, looking worried and concerned ((I think they're the same thing)), "what's the matter?"

I cling onto him, "I-I can't-."

"Hey, it's okay," he holds me close, "listen, I think I know what it is," I tense again, "you're afraid of heights, right?"

Let's just go with that, I nod.

He chuckles, "alright, hold onto me, don't look down, and I'll get you across her before you know it."

And he manages it. Thing is though, I'm not afraid of heights. I'm fine with them. It's...something else...

"Hey, you can open your eyes now," Therion tells me.

I do, and see us safely across the other side of the bridge. I shiver, despite the warm weather, and sigh, "thanks, Therion."

"You okay?" He asks.

I nod, "I'm fine. Let's just get the Emerald dragonstone."

In Wellspring, Therion stops, thinking aloud, "that black market... Thanks, Heathcote. Gathering information gets easier everytime."

I laugh, "I've already told you, he isn't one for giving out a bunch of into," I look around and spot a man by the sidelines of the city. He has a few glasses next to him and I gaze at him thoughtfully, "I'm sure he knows more about this place than your average townsperson."

I gasp and dart away, probably confusing Therion, but I dart past someone, knowing Therion is watching me, and my hand lashes out.

"Oh, I do beg your pardon!" I call, as they pat their pockets, but the busy crowd around me hides me brilliantly. I head back to Therion with a smug smile on my face.
