Treat me the same

Jays POV

I'm sitting at the desk in my room fiddling with one of my random inventions. It is currently 3:13 in the morning and I haven't gotten a single moment of rest. I didn't care. I couldn't sleep well after the whole ordeal and dating back further to when Nya left me alone on the rooftop of that building. My thoughts were interrupted by a knocking at my bedroom door. "Hey can I come in," a friendly voice asked patiently. "Yeah come in" I reply with a half-smile.

I let my face fall into my hand rubbing the sleep out of my eyes. Kai walks in smiling walking on eggshells as they say. They have all been careful what they say or do around me. I turn to see him. I give a real smile. The ninja talk carefully around me which bothers the hell out of me since I want things to be as 'normal' as they can be. They should know me enough by now to know that I am very resilient. I try to make that fact known to Kai. "You know you can treat me like how did before," I say firmly. Kai looked at me taken aback by what I said. "what" he said carefully.

"I know what happened to me made things different I look different but I don't act differently," I said annoyed " At least you would know because you and the rest of the guys treat me like a freaking frightened puppy or something" Kai looked in my eyes at my response trying to understand what was going through my head. "I'm sorry Jay I didn't know you were over it," he said sheepishly rubbing the back of his head. I laugh "I'm not over it Kai," I sigh letting out another laugh. "Hell I'll never be over it but as always I won't let that change anything or at least try," I smile reassuringly. "Though it would make it a lot easier if you did the same," I said jokingly shoving him in the arm a bit harder than expected. "Ouch," he said as rubbing his arm. "Cry baby" I smiled.

Kai finally realized what I said was true. I am the same just with a few more battle scars and burdens but nothing we couldn't face together. Kai laughed at my comment. "So wanna get breakfast," he asked me. "Duh," I said pushing him over causing him to lose balance. "Race ya," I said laughing leaving the room. "Hey you cheater get back here dumbass and play fair" Kai said chasing after me.
