Third-person POV

Jay comes running down the hallway laughing an angry Kai following closely behind. Jay got to the kitchen first where all the ninja were shocked to see him in such a good mood. Kai came running in panting furiously.  "Cheater," Kai laughed looking at Jay his back arched and hands to his knees trying to catch his breath.  Jay mockingly smiled at Kai finding amusement at Kai's annoyment

. "Hey, Jay how are you feeling," Lloyd asked with a small concerned smile. Jay rolled his eye in annoyance at his treatment. "Hey he's not a frightened puppy" Kai joked looking at Lloyd. "You guys don't need to be 'careful' around me. Yes I'm hurting but what doesn't make it better is you guys 'trying' and completely failing to comfort me by being 'careful" Jay said making himself clear. Silence. "Come on you guys can't you sense some of my sarcasm I'm rolling my eye" Jay laughed. Get it Jay thought to himself. The ninja smiled seeing that their friend clearly hadn't changed all they needed to do was be his friend like normal and be there when he needed it. Jay returned their smile.

 "So who's turn is it to make breakfast" Kai questioned. Zane walked over to the chore list and put his figure on the list to keep track. Lloyd walked over to where Zane was.

 "Oh hell no," Lloyd said with a face frozen in complete and utter horror. " The ninja started to worry. "What is it," the ninja said in perfect unison (bar Lloyd and Zane.) "More like who," Lloyd said flopping onto the couch groaning into his hands. "Who," Kai asked starting to get annoyed and starting to fear the worst. Lloyd looked at Kai "No, no it can't be" Lloyd nodded to Kai's question. "Who," Jay asked rolling back his head thinking of leaving if Lloyd didn't get to the point in the next five seconds. "COLE" Lloyd let out a sob. Everyone started groaning while Cole was smiling delightedly. Cole loved cooking but the ninja hated when he did. 

 Soon Sensai came into the kitchen full of chaotic sobs and groans. "What is going on here," Wu asked a bit startled. Jay pointed to the chore list that read: breakfast duty, Cole. "I see... wait I thought you were banned from the kitchen," Wu said interrogating Coal as his eyes began to widen. The ninja turned to him in shock completely forgetting about that. They went to the list to see Zane was next. Lloyd and Kai kicked Cole out making way for Zane. 

Zane ended up making pancakes the ninja's favorite. For the first time in a very long time, things felt normal but of course, it all stopped when the mail arrived and a letter addressed to Jay that read that it was from Cliff Gordan...
