"Suction", you spoke to Jimin who was assisting you with the surgery today. "Suction", Jimin repeated as he did the process. "Dr. Jung, how are the vitals so far", you asked Hosoek who turned to analyze the monitors, "It's stable, please continue". You dug your required tool into the abdomen of the patient and looked to see the screen which showed the view of the inside better. You were looking for a minor rupture in the abdomen which caused internal bleeding for the four-year-old patient who went into a gruesome accident. Both her parents died on the spot and the child was said to have been shielded by the mother taking the impact and saving her baby who came out with a few major wounds including a fractured toe and minor bleeding in her abdomen which you were currently trying to stop.
You were all worried and sad, Jimin nearly cried after hearing the news but you both knew that this was what the medical field was about. Things you could never imagine will take place, sometimes they may be terrifying and horrific, to say the least, and sometimes medical miracles happen to take the whole medical world by surprise. You knew when you looked at the lifeless body of the mother that you had to do everything to make her effort of saving her child count. She died saving her and you were going to help her with it which directed you into leading a critical surgery with Jimin assisting.
You smiled when you finally saw the ruptured spot which was leaking blood, "Found it". You grabbed the clamp that was handed to you by Nurse Yungyoem. You nodded at Jimin who started suturing the site before you removed the clamps slowly. You turned to Hosoek who nodded and gave a thumbs up, "We're good", his eyes crinkling, indicating his sunshine beam behind his mask. You then looked at Jimin, "You can finish it off?", you asked and the former nodded without hesitation. You looked around at your team, "Good work everyone, let's get the kid outta this place", you said earning a few chuckles from around the room. "Nurse Kim, move her into the pediatric ward and assign her to Dr. Seungmin. Tell him that I asked him to take care of it personally.", you told Yungyeom who nodded, "Will do Dr. Kang". You bowed and headed out of the OT before taking your mask off to take a breath.
