Chapter 7

Deal

I spent the night in my bed thinking of my lunch with Eli. I realized how he appears like a man straight from movies and books. He's handsome even though I hate to admit that he is, he's academically good, and he's not mayabang like those mayaman guys in my class who always flex their shoes and cars even though he's way richer than any of them.

My cats meowed and looked at me. They're like reading my thoughts and at the same time asking me to sleep already. Their eyes are focused on me while sitting on my bed. Some naman closed their eyes.

"Let's all sleep na. I'll turn the lights off. Goodnight everyone." I smiled and patted their heads.

That's the scenario before I had a stressful morning at school. We had two surprise long quizzes and the lessons in general math is super hard. Hindi pa masyadong nag i- explain ang aming teacher. She does but it's too complicated, yung matatalino lang talaga sa math ang nakakaintindi.

I went to the cafe alone again dahil busy si Nisha sa pagpaturo sa aming kaklase sa math. Ako naman baka sa bahay lang manunuod ng tutorials sa YouTube. Even though I'm not sure if I'll be able to learn.

I won't learn from my classmates din naman. Ewan ko ba, namimili ng teacher tong utak ko. I'm really stressed and scared of the possibility that I got low scores. Math is damn hard.

I then proceeded to my usual seat in the corner after buying nachos and Okinawa milk tea. It's vacant. I'm still a bit stressed with my possible scores in our quizzes. Hindi ako nakapag study dahil sa mga inisip ko kagabi.

"What are you thinking? May I sit here?" Inangat ko ang aking tingin at nakita ang isang Eli sa harapan na may dalang bottled water at medyo pawisan.

Tumango ako at inilahad ang upuan.

"Thanks." He said before sitting down

"Pawisan ka ata. You went somewhere?" I asked as I eat my food, pretending like it's normal for him to sit here and eat with me.

"Just played. You didn't see me coz you just walked passed by the field without looking. What are you thinking?"

Naglaro siya rito? Wala bang field sa kanila? Also, I know that he's very athletic but isn't he busy with school? He's always on top of the list in their batch every recognition and graduation.

"What do you mean? You play here? Not busy?" Mariin niya akong tinitingnan habang kumakain ako, avoiding the awkwardness that'll happen if I look at him.

"You looked problematic when you walked on your way here up until you ate. Oo, naglalaro ako rito and I'm not busy." Tumawa ako at tiningnan siya.

This guy is doing something. He is suddenly concerned with me. We're not even close.

"Gutom lang." Tumaas ang kilay niya at tiningnan ako ng mariin halatang hindi kumbinsido sa sagot ko.

"Liez!" Anisha shouted before Eli could speak. We both turned our heads to look at Anisha heading towards our table.

"Uy! Eli! Nandito ka pala." Pabalik balik ang tingin sa amin ni Anisha hahit na alam kong she already saw Eli from a distance, while approaching us. She's just fishing for some answers to her unrevealed questions.

"Uh yeah, sit down Anisha." Siya na mismo ang nag pa upo kahit medyo off ang mukha niya like usual.

"Liez, ipapakuha sa atin ang papel natin sa faculty. Samahan mo ako para sabay natin makuha ang ating papers kahit na bagsak tayo. Bakit ba kasi nag pa surprise bigla."

"Tanga! Bigla nga kasi surprise. I'm still stressed with my scores, I should've studied. Naiiyak ako." Naiinis kong iniligpit ang aking pinagkainan.

" Sus. Babawi nalang tayo next quiz. Ano ka ba, parang yun lang. Si Eli nga palaro laro lang dito kahit college na eh. Narinig ko pinag uusapan ng iba yung paglalaro mo." May halong tuwa na sambit ni Nisha.

"He's naturally intelligent na Nish. I am not, I need to read books multiple times in order to memorize and understand it." Napatingin nalang ako sa hangin at vinisualize ang mga gagawin mamaya pag uwi.

" I'm not. I'm sure your grades will not get affected so much kung maliit ang grades mo sa long quizzes as long as you'll get high scores on your other quizzes and exams. Of course your performance tasks too. I'm sure makakabawi ka pa... And you." He turned his gaze to me and then Nisha.

I felt relieved after hearing that from him. I'm sure madami na siyang experience and he's obviously wiser than me, all those words he said gave hope to me. Grades are very important to me, it's my key to have a bright future. Hindi lang ako sigurado kung pinapagaan niya lang ang loob ko pero it helps.

"Talaga? You sure?" I asked with full of hope.

He looked at me seriously, I am not sure but I think he's reading me. He replied with a nod. I let out a sigh of relief.

"Kitams? Ikaw kasi masyadong stressed. "

Tumango ako "Kumain ka muna Nisha bago tayo pumunta sa office."

"Nah. Hindi ako gutom."

"You should. Libre ko na."

Para namang nabigyan ng milagro si Anisha roon sa sinabi ni Eli kaya madaling tumango at umorder.

"So you're stressed with your math?" Tanong niya pag alis ni Nisha.

"Oo eh, mahirap talaga." I don't wanna appear dumb pero yun naman ang totoo.

"I can help. Pwede kitang turuan." I am surprised. Napabaling ako sa kaniya. He will? That would be a big big help.

"You would? Aren't you busy?"

"Hindi naman. Pero kung busy ako pwede namang ipagpaliban muna. But I'm pretty sure I can handle it." Sure, matalino siya. I've heard of it before plus his achievements is a big proof. Pero ngayon bilib ako sa confidence niya.

It will be a big help but

"I don't wanna be a bother. Okay lang kaya ko pa naman." Tumango ako sa kaniya at ngumiti para di halatang gustong gusto ang kaniyang offer.

"You won't be. I told you, di ako busy at if I would, I can re schedule it. I'm also sure you can handle it but darling won't it be a big help if I would give a hand?"

Well. He said I won't be a bother. What could go wrong? And a help from a wise man like him is a blessing.

"Kung ganon, Salamat! I mean, can I accept the offer then?" Masigla kong tanong. I can't help but feel happy.

"Silly, bakit ka nagtatanong kung pwede? Of course, I'm the one who's offering." Bahagya siyang tumawa at napangiti.

This dude is enchanting me ha. Am feeling ko naman. Sadyang biniyayaan lang talaga siya ng kagwapuhan. He should be illegal.

"Deal then! Pero ang ganda naman ng offer mo! May kapalit ba?" Naramdaman ko ang pagkatigil niya sa tanong ko. Nag iisip siya.

"Uh-huh. Of course meron." Meron nga! Mahal pa naman siguro itong bayaran. Yung ibang tutor nga pricey na, ano pa ang isang Ruiz.

Tumaas ang kilay ko para making.

"But that will come later."

"Ay! Hindi pwede. Dapat ngayon, malay ko ba ano ang hihingiin mong kapalit." Napailing siya at mahinang tumawa.

"Tss. Sige. Accompany me." Tinagilid ko ang aking ulo. Kakaiba nga ang kapalit. Anong accompany ba?

"Saan?" Tanong ko nang nakabalik na at umupo si Nisha sa gilid ko.

"Just in this town. I don't have much friends to be with... Uh these days."

Pinagloloko ba ako nito? Anong Wala? Ang dami nga niyang kaibigan sa campus namin, ano pa sa University niya.

" Anong wala? Ang dami nga eh. Kahit dito sa amin meron." Nagtatanong ang mga mata ni Anisha habang kumakain.

"They are called acquaintances Anais. Not friends." Tumango naman kami pareho ni Nisha.

Reasonable naman. Siguro tulad noong lalaki sa field nagpapansinan sila at nagbabatian pero di sila magkaibigan. Kababalik lang din naman niya rito kaya't siguro'y wala siyang talagang kaibigan.

"Okay, sige. Deal." Papayagan naman siguro ako nina mama at kung tutuusin this accompaniment is not a big payment for his help.

Tumango naman siya at ngumisi.

"It is a deal."
