Taehyung could think of a lot of things that were hot. A fire. Coffee. A furnace. The sun. However, nothing that he could think of would even come close to the heat from Cupid's rage upon their return home.
"I wish to speak to my son alone..." growled Cupid from atop his white throne chair. Underneath the throne were even whiter cloud looking pillows that his feet were set on. Jungkook and Taehyung stood in front of him, and he looked as if his rage could consume both of them in an instant.
Taehyung nodded his head towards Cupid before turning to leave the room. Adorning every inch of the walls in the grand throne room were different monitors. From the comfort of this one room, Cupid could oversee every relationship on Earth and meddle to his heart's desire. Cupid was the one that orchestrated the 'happily ever afters' and the 'I-Hate-You-And-Hope-You-Rots'. It really depended on the day, and on who Cupid felt like matching up. It was a game to him and nothing more.
Stepping out into the hall like he was asked to, Taehyung made himself still stand near by enough so that he could hear every word of what was going on.

Jungkook stood in front of his father, watching the rage flicker all over his face. He kept his hands clasped in front of him, waiting for whatever fury was in his father to be launched his way.
"You had one job," his father eventually said, "And you couldn't even do that."
"So I spent the year a bit differently. What is wrong with that?"
"Love is something you're supposed to watch from the sidelines. You aren't a player in the game."
Jungkook wanted desperately to tell his father to quit comparing his actions to a game.
"You are supposed to be the ones making the calls and instead you fell under some woman's spell," continued his father.
"Her name is Ame," said Jungkook silently, keeping his eyes fixed on his father.
"Excuse me?"
The anger should have probably frightened Jungkook, but it didn't. Instead he said, "Her name is Ame. She's not some woman."
Jungkook watched his father clench and unclench his jaw for a moment before standing up from his throne.
"Do you not see that you are under her spell? You - as the one that should be casting spells - should be ashamed that you are so weak!"
Jungkook didn't say anything. Instead he clasped his hands in front of him even tighter than before. His knuckles were starting to turn as white as his dress shirt used to be.
"What about my creation?" asked Jungkook. "Was love not involved in that?"
He had always wondered how he came to be if his father had such a view on love. He never heard mention of a mother. His father was the only parent he had ever known.
"You were not created out of love, Jungkook. You were created out of necessity! I made you...created you to be like me! There was no woman involved. No love. I created you to give me a break, but you...you have disappointed me. Utterly and completely. The only way that I can forgive this atrocity is if you cast a spell on Ame this instant to make her forget you."
Jungkook watched as his father marched right past him to one of the millions of monitors lining the wall. There was an image on one of Ame. She was still sitting on the bench where Jungkook had left her with her bunny. He would have thought the image was on pause if it wasn't for the intermittent twitching of the bunny's ears and Ame's stroking fingers.
"Do it," his father commanded, pointing at the screen in anger.
Jungkook shook his head.
"No. I will not."
"You fool! I will not stand for this! You are undeserving of this responsibility."
Jungkook had a million things that he wanted to say, but he knew that none of them would do any use at that point in time. His father was past the point of reason. Besides, there wasn't any use in trying to persuading someone so stuck in their ways. However, Jungkook did decide to chance saying one thing though as it couldn't make matters worse.
"So what I felt for Ame was love," said Jungkook. "Otherwise you wouldn't be so mad."
Cupid looked at his son, seeing that there were absolutely no emotions on his face.
"I want you out of my sight," he said with a low growl instead of answering Jungkook's question. "You are no better than those pathetic humans, so that is what you will become. I hope this woman is worth you losing everything, including the immortality you were so close to gaining."
"Ame is worth everything," said Jungkook. "Besides, I'd rather live a life than live a lie."
Before Cupid could unleash any more fury and disgust Jungkook's way, the door to the throne room opened again. Taehyung - who had heard everything - entered and moved to stand near Jungkook.
"I apologize for interrupting, sir, but did I just hear that correctly?" asked Taehyung.
"Hear what correctly?" asked Cupid more irritated at Jungkook than at Taehyung's eavesdropping.
"That you are sentencing your son to life among the mortals for what he did?"
"Yes," said Cupid as he looked at Taehyung.
"He's not the only one to blame with all due respect," said Taehyung. "I am his chaperone, and have been since you assigned me to him at birth. If Jungkook is to be punished for what transpired this evening, then I should be too."
Cupid scoffed then looking from Taehyung to Jungkook and back again. Jungkook looked shocked at the words coming from Taehyung's mouth. He knew that he was going to get punished, and was fully ready to accept that. He didn't expect Taehyung to fall on the sword with him. He didn't understand why he would do that.
"Tae...you don't have to," said Jungkook.
"Too late," said Taehyung as he stood firmly beside Jungkook. "You're not going through it alone."
"After everything I've given to you...after the centuries you have spent as my companion, you side with someone that is just a speck on my timeline."
"Jungkook doesn't deserve to go through whatever is about to come alone," said Taehyung simply. "And if losing my immortality is the price to pay to ensure that, then it really is nothing."
"You are both fools that don't appreciate a gift that others would risk their lives for," said Cupid as he looked at the two of them.
Disgusted by the sight of them, he snapped his fingers at them. They both immediately dropped into a deep trance, and laid passed out at his feet.
"If they won't clean up the mess, I will do it myself," said Cupid as he looked at the monitor screen that showed Ame. He snapped his fingers at her picture on the monitor, watching as she looked up confused for a moment before eventually getting off the bench with the bunny.
When Ame disappeared off the monitor, Cupid turned to look at Jungkook and Taehyung who still laid at odd angles on the floor. To ensure they fit into the world of the mortals, he would have to create a background for them and make it seem like they had been there all along.
'Jokes on them,' thought Cupid as he stared at the two of them, looking peaceful in sleep. 'Neither of them will remember this or anything that proceeded this at all. Their actions will be for naught, and this supposed love of Jungkook's will be forgotten.'
