Kristies POV
"So you like to rookie?" Sam questions awkwardly from her spot leaning against the headboard
"No."
"You're lying".
"Look I don't know".
"Okay that's fine." Sam says trying to defuse the situation after hearing the hostility in her sisters voice.
"She's different."
"Good or bad different?"
"Good different."
"What do you mean?"
"She's calming and sure of herself and her ability."
"Huh. I didn't get that impression. But I also haven't talked to her one on one yet."
"Yeah. Ohh Umm what did Kelley say to Coal?"
"Called her stupid for liking a childrens book."
"What book?" I question confused.
"Curious George."
I surpress my laugh not at her reading level but at how cute she would look reading curious George. "We'll bed checks are starting soon."
"Ok." Sam says and shuts off the bed side table lamp illuminating the room with its rays.

Rising the next morning as the sun assaults her waking eyes. She flips one or twice before giving up against the suns powerful rays. She pushes herself into a seated position and rubs her eyes. "Good morning." Sam says bubbly with a bright smile on her lips."What has you so chipper." Kristi says sarcastically.
"Coal is shirtless in the hallway on the phone." That is all it takes for me to throw on shorts and walk out of my room. I take in the sight before my eyes.
God.
She.
Was.
So.
Fine.
Her large ripped arms with veins pulsing through the bare skin as she presses her cellphone tightly against her ear. Her back muscles contracted as she shifted the phone against the side of her face. Her large rounded shoulders tensed showing the different muscles that made up the shoulder.
Kristi left figuring she looked like a stalker watching the girl. She entered back into her room and straight to the bathroom. She proceeded through her morning routine before changing into clean clothes and glancing at her phone. She needed to be in the meal room in 30 minutes to not have to run but could head down now. She decided with the latter option and grabbed her phone and key card before heading into the teams meal room. She catches coal glancing dejectedly at the baseboards in the corner of the hall way.
Kristie walks up behind the keeper and lightly placed her hand on the strong lower back. The taller girl jumps but tries to cover it. "Hey it's time to head to the meal room. But you need a shirt."
"Yeah, Umm yeah I guess I do."
"Here I'll wait for you." Kristie offers and stands to the wall as the keeper heads into her rooms and throws on one of her many worn out and grease soaked shirts. Holes literally her torso from getting caught on brush when chasing live stock that had run off and the small rips tattering the shoulders and collar of the shirt from many a nights getting caught on cabinets and tack.
She places her belongings in the pockets of her faded and worn out wranglers as well as slipping on socks and the dusted, cracked ariats that have been due for upgrade for years. She places her phone, wallet, keys, knife, and can into her pocket before leaving her room. She places the ball cap snuggly over her head and meets Kristie in the hallway.
