Only time will tell

Chapter 7: Frozen roads

The sky was covered by thick grey clouds. There was barely any light shining through besides a couple open spaces that stuck through.

"Woah..." Mouse said in awe

White particles slowly fell down from the sky, one by one they started to cover the sidewalk. Soon enough the road was covered in snow as well.

"Never seen snow before?" Connor laughed

"Not in Japan I haven't" She giggled

Mouse ran forwards and twirled in the snow, her hair flew as she ran around from place to place.

Connor watched as Mouse pranced around. She almost seems to illuminate the sky. Their eyes locked for a moment while Mouse did a little turn. Connor could feel his face getting warmer

"Look! Look!" Mouse exclaimed, she danced around a bit more

"Mouse, be careful you might sli-" He paused and ran forwards.

Connor grabbed Mouse's sleev before she got the ground, he carefully placed his had behind her head. He was now leaning on top of her with his face close to hers

He quickly pulled her upwards and brushed a little bit of dust from his beige cargo pants.

"T-Thanks.." Mouse muttered and she continued to walk

Connor followed after Mouse, catching up a few seconds later. He pulled out his phone to look at the time '11:43am' it read.

"Can't believe the trip is already over" Connor let out a loud sigh

"Don't be such a big baby, that was a week ago" She complained back

Connor came to a stop by a large glass window. It took up the whole wall, showing the inside of the store. There was walls filled with retro games and old game systems like the SNES or the super nintendo, xbox and ps1.

"Look at all the old stuff they have" Connor said in shock, he leaned forwards getting a better look into the shop

Mouse stood beside Connor and peaked into the store as well. Her eyes lit up and before she knew it, she was inside.

"Mouse, wait for me" Connor followed into the store.

It was warm inside, not too warm but warmer than it was on the outside. Connor walked up to an old copy of sonic riders. He picked it up and glanced at it

"gonna get that?" Mouse asked startling Connor. He stumbled back and almost crashed into a shelf that was behind the 2

"Jesus Mouse-" He panted, taking in deep breaths.

He put the cartage back into the shelf and walked to the front door again. He waved to Mouse, signing her to come over

"Yes?" She questioned him

"Let's get lunch, it's almost noon" Connor said walking out the door

They walked to a nearby building that was just across the road. It was a japanese style fresh slice

"Pikza!" Mouse screamed

"It's 'Pizza' not 'Pikza'" Connor corrected Mouse

"Shut up and just get a pizza already" She replied with a smile of her face

Mouse didn't seem to have pizza often, nor did she see it as junk food.

Connor picked up a small box for two, half of it was pepperoni and sausage while the other side was vegetables

"gimme!" Mouse said suddenly and took a slice.

She took a bite while it was still hot and stretched the cheese with her teeth.

Connor looked at Mouse's lips for a brief second and Mouse seemed to catch his eye.

"Eww, stop watching me eat, pervert" She spoke looking the other way.

Connor's ears were becoming slightly red, he began to eat his pizza as if nothing ever happened in that shirt moment.

The box was finally empty and Connor stood up. He took the box with one hand and threw it into the trash. He proceeded to walk back towards Mouse who was looking at her phone

"Do you think I could get this?" She asked pointed her phone towards Connor.

On the screen was a small penguin plushie that could be found at a local arcade. Connor looked from the screen to Mouse and she was giving him puppy dog eyes

"Sure, Why not" Connor replied, he stuck out his hand for Mouse to take

She took his hand and was pulled out of her seat, Connor broke into a light jog, leading Mouse to an arcade.

"We should get there fast so that we can win lots of things" Connor smiled at her

They walked into a building that was decorated with cram machines from wall to wall. A few customers could be seen walking past the rows and rows of endless machines

"Welcome to crane game paradise" Connor said to Mouse

"Let's begin!" Mouse shouted

"Got it!"

"2 for 2 baby"

"This one is taking too long"

"This one is just crazy"

"This is impossible"

Connor and Mouse walked outside with 3 bags full of goods that ranged from plushies to figure and candy.

Mouse extended a small penguin plush from her hands. She stared at it with eyes that were filled with love, she pulled it close and hugged it

"we got the penguin!" She cheered, looking over to Connor

He was carrying 2 of the 3 bags and seemed to be slowly getting more and more exhausted.

"And a few more things," He laughed tiredly

"Should we start heading back?" Mouse asked him

"Yes please.."Connor pleaded

The 2 began their walk towards home, the pace wasn't too far from where they were originally. It was a 15-20 minute walk from his house

"Connor?" Mouse suddenly spoke

"Yes?" Connor replied looking down to Mouse

She shook her head and continued to walk.
"It's nothing, never mind"

Flakes of snow started to pour down onto the city, it was almost as if a blizzard was hitting. Rough winds pushed any loose clothing around

The house was in viewing distance, they slowly made their walk closer and closer until they reached the front door

"we made it.." Connor whined, he openned the door and embraced the warm air

The house lit up and everything was illuminated. Connor plopped onto the couch where he instantly fell asleep

"Connor?" Mouse said curiously

She knelt beside the couch by Connors head. She leaned against the cushion and smiled gently.

"Maybe we could go on a real date someday.." She mumbled to herself.

Mouse closed her eyes and went to bed beside Connor. She moved in closer to feel his warmth against hers

"We should go on a dat.." She yawned
