I am mad at you, for not meeting me sooner.
Amartya looked hopelessly towards the shut gates. He so wanted to barge in and garner the little girl in his arms, only if that was right. He knew the price he had to pay would make him question his role in her life at times, but he had to look at the bigger picture. It was not just her on the line but hundreds and thousands of children in the country. The people behind a scandal that massive, he had to walk in fire and eggshells and he was ready to do that, at least for now.
"Hi." He said with a smile as the girl on the other end shuffled some papers from behind the desk that Amartya could not clearly see.
"How may I-" She had to pause mid-sentence to absorb the sight in front of her. A man as tall as 6'3 in Little Dreams was new. That too, a very gorgeous man.
"I am here to see Sia."
"..."
"Mam?" It took five seconds for her to blink and respond to his request. She scrambled out of her chair, causing it to tumble behind her before she turned to throw a glance at it and then turned towards the handsome visitor.
"Sia? Um, How, I mean, Who?"
"Pwinnncceeeeee?
The little girl came running towards him as he crouched down, opening her arms wide.
"'Oh my god! I missed you-" Her lips turned into an adorable pout after her tongue got stuck in her incisors while pronouncing "missed".
"I missed you too, princess." Sia blushed a deep shade of red as Amaryya picked her up in his arms, causing her to squeal as if she was flying.
"Sir, may I know who you are?"
"Astha this my pince!" Said Sia.
"Prince?"
"Hello, I am - I am from AmarVani, I have been here before-"
"Ohhh! So you are Mr. Shetty's assistant! I am so sorry I had no idea."
"Please don't be sorry-"
"I was not here the first time you came in, but oh, the kids!" she rolled her dramatically earning a chuckle from him, "-were all over you."
Amartya smiled ruffling Sia's curls as she nestled her head into his neck, inhaling his scent deeply for the comfort it provided.
"Are you, I mean, are you the only one present here? I mean, your friend-"
"'Oh, yes, my friend-" Astha smiled slyly as Amartya tried not to be obvious with his question regarding the girl who had wrapped her arms around him right in this hall, the first time he was here."
"She is at work."
"Oh."
But wasn't looking after Little Dreams her work? He thought.
"Yes, but don't worry she'll be back soon. Please make yourself comfortable and let me get you some water-"
"No that's, that's completely fine, I am here for Sia, I heard she wasn't doing well."
Sia had now fallen asleep due to her medications as the two adults conversed. Astha's face fell thinking about her condition but she chose to smile and not to be sorry for Sia or the fact that they were struggling to get her a good doctor.
"If that's okay with you, can I take her for a doctor's appointment?"
"A doctor's appointment?"
"Yes, I am in talks with the best pediatrician in the country regarding Sia's case, and made an appointment for 12pm today."
