Eirene

Chapter 3

Sebastian's POV:

I pounded my feet as hard as I could onto the earth. how dare he leave the kingdom without a ruler! Was he more interested in having the peoples buildings torched and family's killed! Ugh! I just wanted to rip my hair out at the thought of it. The sun was beginning to set and I continued to pound my anger into the ground. Then relief came to my eyes and body, before I knew it I had stripped of my clothing and was now wading into the water. The salt from the ocean was taking my hatred for my father away and casting it out into sea like one may do with their secrets in a bottle. I swam until my arms ached and my lungs screamed before making my way to the shore then drying off and dressing in the moonlight listening to the quite roar of the tide that was coming in. Turning to go back to the castle I heard a twig snap behind me. I turned around my cape swooshing behind me.

"Who's there?"

Silence.

"Come out I am the prince and I order you to do so!" I bellowed again after about 5 minutes of waiting. once I had commanded that they come out I realized what It really was. A faint glow grew in front of me slowly taking the shape of a person, rubbing my eyes in disbelief I took a step back.

"hello Sebastian." Its voice rang out melodically as I stumbled back falling onto the ground with a thud.

"there is no reason to fear I'm just here to give you a message," my eyes felt like they were going to burst out of my head. What in the world I think its a ghost but no ghosts don't exist maybe it was a spirit. whatever it was It didn't seem to want to hurt me, although I wished I had a spear on hand in case it did, though it would probably do almost no damage whatsoever.

"what is your message?"

" you will be going to war in a few short months there you will fight and fight all of the men in your group will die but there will be no over throw. You will be the only survivor , however you cannot stop these series of events no matter what it is that you do. When you reach Athens and train their men before they go off to war. you will meet someone there who will change you life forever whether you want it to or not. The only problem is that they may die unless you save them but you may not hold them back from fighting. " The creature spoke the way a harp sounds and made me feel as though nothing bad was going to happen, but now truth be told I was going to be the heir to the throne and the only one to survive from our group which was the worst thing of all and meeting someone there? who would it be? and why can't I stop them from fighting I should be able to do that I was the prince of course.

" Who is it that I'm going to meet and why cant I change any of this?!?"

" no questions Sebastian only time will tell." And with that the glowing figure sucked inwards where its heart might be and swirled into nothing.

Eirene's POV:

"Eirene?" I stepped foot into the candle lit house seeing my father on his mat next to the table.

"yes?" I said trying to sound like I hadn't just screamed and cried my whole afternoon but as soon as It came out of my throat I knew he could tell.

" I'm going to go to the council in Athens tomorrow and call for you to be taken out of this war immediately."

"Papa you can't do that!"

" yes darling I can,"he had a soft look in his eyes now, but I wasn't falling for any of that.

" don't you know what they will do to you!Knowing that you've deceived them for years and now are begging to have your daughter released from the war!" I said harshly almost yelling before I noticed he was glancing worriedly over at his bedroom where my mother was sleeping. I lowered my voice and looked at him with flames in my eyes.

"Yes I do know what they'll do to me but I cannot let you mother loose her only child and nor can I; we will both go mad."

"Let me fight."

"No!"

"Papa!"

"You hate war yet you are begging me to let you fight?"

"Some things are worth fighting for."

"My darling," he stood and walked over to me caressing my hair back away from my face before looking at me. "you could die and I could as well what would that do to your mother?" I fell silent, he caught me in his trap what would my mother do if she lost not only her husband but her daughter as well.

"Let me go to the council in the morning Eirene and then I will fix up this whole mess,"with a sigh I retreated into my room not bothering to strip before falling into the deepest sleep I've had in years. My body must know that the next few days were going to be like.
