We Will Survive

chapter 4: Andy

I snuck out of my parents house last night. Around an hour later, it was already everywhere. And when I say everywhere, I mean everywhere.

I had to buy a map, well steal a map from an abandoned convenience store. Yeah, I know, I'm really breaking out of my shell. The place I'm supposed to meet the two is around a half hour walk.

Looks like I'm going to have to stock up on, well, everything: food, water, walking shoes, extra clothes, etc.

I walk back into the convenience store. It's so dark and dirty. Since I've grown up as a Host's daughter, the dirtiest thing I have seen is a little bit of dust here and there. This would be a nightmare for anyone who grew up like I did. It's funny, I love it here. It's so mysterious and full of adventure.

In the midst of my thoughts, I here a creek of the wooden floor. My head shoots around to find an animal. It's has small red beady eyes. It's teeth stick out of his face in unnatural angles. It looks fimiliar, I think I've seen it in one of my books. A rat I think.

Before I can think of what to do, it scurrys off into a back room. I follow it.

In the room there are rows and rows of clothes, like it was waiting for me. I silently thank to rat and begin to pick out pants and shirts.

I pull the backpack I found over my shoulder and begin my walk to the complex. It seems to be about noon, comfortable weather. There are a few puffy clouds here and there. It's quite beautiful really.

As I walk, I gracefully trip over a stick and notice tire marks, of a truck. They look pretty new, like someone just drove by here.

You may think
ya, tire tracks wow Andy. What a discovery.
Ya but, the poor people don't have cars and I'm at least 10 to 15 miles from town. It was probably stolen.

Well, duh Andy, of course it was stolen. But why?

Whatever the reason, it can't be good. I stand up and begin to follow the tracks.
