" haven't seen a love so lost "

It was tuesday when Christmas came about. The air was cold, streets covered in padded snow and most homes Charlotte passed by were filled with joyous laughters and smiles that she couldn't resemble. This day was most young girls favorite holiday yet she's in a place she doesn't even know, walking endlessly on a path she doesn't remember.

There was a party going to happen in New years which she is lucky enough to be invited to. A party that James will host for his friends, in a place he hasn't lived for a full year but is going to be baby proofed if ever his child is ever born. He swore to it to Lily.

She's been thinking. A lot than usual and it was saying something because Charlotte thinks a lot. Because of her last encounter with Marlene was over a month ago in Sirius's post-party, Charlotte discovered that Marlene has been avoiding her in reasons she doesn't know. It made her sad, of course but also a part of her was telling herself to stay away.

That it was for the better.

Because loving someone romantically would only just be a death sentence to them. Charlotte knows yet she kept thinking about visiting Marlene's flat or her family home if it gets to see her in this special day.

There was no doubt she loves Marlene no friend would ever feel. It was sensational to feel yet very wrong in the back of her head. It kept her up at nights, drowsy in the day that she can't think properly without seeing her in her own state of mind.

For Charlotte... She can't. But every nerve in her body was jolting to do the wrong thing. To be selfish for once.

And for every second she thinks of it, she kept apparating everywhere in Britain. Charlotte even ended up in a small island in Asia that made her head spin and settles down on a snowy street after that incident.

For Charlotte, she loves Marlene Mckinnon to want to tear herself apart to please her.

The Christmas wasn't as lonely as Charlotte intended it to be. Just a clock before nine, the Prewett twins found her after long hours of searching and asked her to join them for supper. It took a whole fifteen minute to convince and Charlotte did end up eating at their home, neither of the three had gifts for one another but they had each other. Even that was enough.

"I didn't know you were working tonight." It was too late to turn around now as she was seen by Aubrey Hareton entering the packed tavern. It was mostly a drunken pub especially if it's December thirty-one, a few hours until January first.

"Gotta keep my old man's tavern alive. Just until ten anyways, I'm suppose to go to James and Lily's party." Aubrey smiles politely, Charlotte had no choice but to sit on the barstool, didn't take off her black scarf around her neck. "Why are you here? Aren't you suppose to come too?" She asks, cleaning dishes behind the counter.

"Yeah, I just need to do something."

Charlotte wanted to visit her mother. It was far fetched and unnecessary, but she felt like it. Homesick and in desperate need of affection like any other teenager missing their mother. But for Charlotte, she's been homesick her whole life until to this point. Nothing really changed but her desperation grew wider than before to ignore.
