*SNAP* "What was that?" Matthew asked with concern.

"I'm not sure..." Chespin responded.

The two cautiously looked around for the source of the noise. Suddenly, a bush in front of them began to shake violently for a few seconds and then stopped. Whatever was inside darted to a nearby bush on the left, and then to another on the right, and then back to the middle again. It repeated this process, changing it up every time to not be predictable. It moved at such speed that all the two could make out was a red blur.

"Wh-what is that?!" Matthew asked in a panicked tone.

"I can't tell! It's moving too fast!" Chespin yelled back.

All movement in the bushes stopped abruptly, and a white glob shot out of the right bush and hit Chespin in the face. Chespin yanked and pulled at the glob in an attempt to remove it, but to no avail.

"It's using Sticky Web! I... I can't get it off!" Chespin yelled.

An Ariados leaped out of the right bush and landed on top of Matthew with a powerful Poison Jab, knocking him to the ground. Matthew struggled to hold the Ariados' powerful mandibles open as it attempted to bite his face. Realizing he was losing his strength, Matthew began to panic.

"Chespin, help! I can't hold it much longer!" Matthew cried.

"I can't see! This stupid web won't come off!" Chespin yelled back.

In a moment of pure fear, Matthew released a pyschic blast so powerful that it sent the Ariados flying backward into a tree, leaving a huge crack across the middle of the trunk. It began struggling on the ground, attempting to get back up. Before it could, the top half of the tree snapped off, falling on the weakened spider and crushing it instantly.

"Is it over?" Chespin asked worriedly.

"Yeah, for now. There could be more of those things lurking around," Matthew replied.

"Well, hopefully we won't run into them," Chespin said.

"Hopefully..." Matthew added.

The poison was starting to take its toll, and Matthew fell to the floor, unable to move. All the noise had woke up Naomi, and she rushed over to see what was happening. Noticing her, Matthew weakly reached a hand out towards Naomi for help.

"What happened to you two?! N-no! Stop! Moving will only make it worse!" Naomi cried.

She quickly returned Chespin to her pokéball and began checking Matthew's injuries.

"Oh no..." Naomi said, seeing the purple spot on Matthew's chest.

Realizing the urgency of the situation, Naomi pulled out her phone and checked its GPS for the nearest Pokémon Center.

"Oh...that's quite far," Naomi said in disappointment.

She oriented herself in the direction the Pokémon Center should be and ran as fast as her legs could take her, cradling Matthew in her arms.

Matthew was getting weaker by the minute and was having trouble staying awake.

"No, no, no, don't close your eyes. Stay with me, please... we're almost there,"
Naomi pleaded.

Spotting the Pokémon Center in the distance, Naomi put her legs into overdrive. Without slowing down, she burst through the double doors and startled Nurse Joy. Naomi attempted to explain the situation to Nurse Joy so fast that her words were incomprehensible.

"Woah, woah, woah. Slow down. I can't understand what you're saying," Nurse Joy said.

"O-okay. My Ralts and Chespin were attacked by a Pokémon while I was asleep. When I woke up, I found Ralts poisoned on the ground and Chespin with a web on her face. Please, they need help..." Naomi explained.

"Don't worry, we can fix your Pokémon right up, good as new," Nurse Joy assured.

"We?" Naomi asked, clearly confused.

"Oh, Wigglytuff~," Nurse Joy called.

In quick fashion, a Wigglytuff wearing a nurse uniform came in with a stretcher and scooped up Matthew, taking him to the back room to be treated.

"We'll also need to do a check-up on your Chespin. Would you be so kind as to let her out of her pokéball?" Nurse Joy asked politely.

Naomi reached into her bag and pulled out Chespin's pokéball. She pointed it at the ground and pressed the release mechanism, causing Chespin to appear at her feet. Chespin immediately fell over due to her still having a big web stuck to her face. Naomi then picked up Chespin and handed her over to Nurse Joy.

"Please relax, your Pokémon are going to be okay," Nurse Joy said with reassurance. She then carried Chespin into the back room and closed the door behind her.

After what felt like forever, the door to the back room finally opened again. Nurse Joy walked into the room with a friendly smile on her face and stepped aside from the doorway. Wigglytuff then walked through the doorway, pushing a stretcher with Matthew and Chespin in it. Both of them were now sitting upright, and each had a small pokéball shaped lollipop in their mouth.

"Your Pokémon are all better now, and they were both so sweet and cooperative during their procedures," Nurse Joy said.

"Although I do want you to be aware that your Ralts is very lucky to have survived. The poison had been in its system so long that it was hanging onto life by a thread. Being the experienced nurses we are, Wigglytuff and I were able to neutralize the poison fast enough by pumping Antidote directly into its body with an IV rather than using the spray bottle."

"You need to be more careful; another hit like that could mean the end for your poor Ralts. It's too young and frail to take such hits, not to mention fairy-types are weak to poison."

Upon hearing this, Naomi began to cry.

"I-I'm sorry... I wish I could've done more..." Naomi apologized.

"Don't be! It's okay to ask for help sometimes, and you did all that you needed to by bringing Ralts here," Nurse Joy explained.

Matthew and Chespin jumped down from the stretcher and ran up to Naomi, both hugging a different leg.

"Aww... I love you too. I'm just glad you two are alright," Naomi said, blushing.
