Janet sat outside the house looking through the window. She watched as the man inside walked throughout his home doing everyday things. He cooked dinner, took a shower, went through the paperwork, and watched tv. Janet had developed a routine and in turn, she had learned his. Luckily her car was black and her windows were tinted, so no one knew it was her. Along with that, the residents in the neighborhood had just thought that one of them got a new car. So this worked in her favor. Everyone wondered what was going on with Janet. They hadn't seen her or heard from her. She spent most of her days at the hospital next to Toni's hospital bed and her nights in the car watching the man's house. Every other day she would go home, shower, and change clothes but that was it. She didn't go to the studio. She didn't go to rehearsals. She didn't go visit anyone. She just did this; waiting and watching. Was it stalkerish, yes but she had to do it.
The man went to sleep, so the shift was over. He would be up again at 8, leaving at 11 and back by 5 and so would she. Starting her car she drove to the beach. She got out and sat by the water. Laying in the sand, she replayed everything so it would stick in her memory. When she finally felt that it did she thought of everything that had happened since she found Toni in the garage two months ago. Most of it was of her crying and doctors coming in to do test after test. It's been so hard for her to live without Toni. Sometimes she goes to see the kids but it's so hard because they ask about Toni.
The water occasionally hit Janet. As she cried she just wished that the water would wash her away and give her life to Toni so she could live. They wanted to pull the plug but her family gave Janet permission to do or not but she couldn't do it. The doctors said there is still a chance that she could wake up. So that's what Janet was holding onto. She couldn't let go of the love of her life like that. Everytime the water hit her she cried a little harder. But suddenly, her tears stopped. It was almost as if her emotions shut off completely, except for one; anger. Janet was angry but only towards one person and she was going to make sure he knew it. "Janet what the hell!" Janet sat up. "What is it Gil?"
"I don't know you tell me. No one has seen or heard from you in two months."
"Yeah."
"Yeah. That's all you have to say?"
"Yeah." Gil was getting irritated by Janet. She didn't seem to care that everyone was worried about her. Standing up, she head back to her car. "What else do you want me to say?"
"I want you to tell me where you've been and what's been going on."
"Not right now Gil. I got stuff to take care of." Janet opened her car door but Gil pushed it close.
"Janet what the hell is going on with you? You don't seem like yourself." Janet scratched her head. "Are you on something?"
"What? No!" Janet was lying but it wasn't nothing big. She just smoked some weed, took a few pills, and maybe snorted a little bit, but it wasn't a big deal. She could handle it.
"You're lying. Wait are you high right now?"
"No! Gil please leave me alone." Janet got in her car. Gil held the door and looked at Janet. Her hair was a mess, her clothes were a mess, and she had bags under her eyes with dark circles. He knew something was wrong but he knew she wouldn't tell him so he would dead the issue for now.
"I love you, Janet." She looked at him.
"I love you too, Gil." Janet closed her door and drove off. Going back to her house, she went to her bedroom and got her stuff out of the medicine cabinet before going to her extra office. She sat at the desk and looked at her wall. There were several pictures and notes. She had his routine written out in detail. Her plan was all well thought out. She had enough on him to make sure he didn't go to the cops and if she did there was a plan to get her off. Opening her package, she pours the contents on the desk. Lining it up she took it all in one motion. Leaning her head back against the chair she grabbed her blunt and smoked it. Slowly, she felt herself drifting into a daydream.
