Chapter 20

"You did what?"

"Girl she beat the crap out of him." said Gil. Everyone was laughing about how they found Janet and Keri after she had beaten him up. Toni couldn't believe it and thought it was hilarious. The doctor said that they wanted to keep her for a little longer because they wanted to run a few more tests and observe her. So the two families were sitting around laughing and joking. Janet was sitting on the bed with Toni snuggled up to her.

"Baby, did you really do that?"

"Of course I did. He hurt you and I wasn't about to let him get away with it."

"But what if he goes to the police?"

"He won't and if he did it will be very obvious that it was self defense."

"How are you going to spin that?" asked Towanda.

"Well. There were a lot of drugs in my system, which Keri put in me."

"No he didn't." said Trina.

"Yes he did. See when the police go to examine the scene, they're going to find two glasses of juice; one with my DNA on it and one with his. They're going to take and test the cup and find some very strong levels of flunitrazepam, which isn't approved by the FDA, meaning that Keri would had to go through illegal channels to get them."

"What drug is that?" asked Toni.

"It is meant to help with insomnia but there are side effects."

"But that doesn't explain the scene. I mean you really beat his ass." said Randy.

"Guys so this is what happened, I went to Keri's house to talk about the kids because they were a little sick and I figured he should know. Seeing as how Toni was here in the coma, I wanted to make sure that Keri was there for the boys. He invited me inside to talk and offered me something to drink. I said sure. While we were talking, I took a sip of the juice and noticed it tasted funny. I asked Keri about but he just sat next to me and told me to relax. I noticed I was feeling loopy so I stood to leave but he tried to pull me back down. I was so scared you guys. I pulled away from him and he followed me around the room where I accidentally knocked things over. He grabbed me and......" Janet got choked up and her eyes got watery. "...and he grabbed me, pushing me on the ground next to the fireplace. He started trying to take advantage of me and I fought back but I felt the effects of the medication getting stronger so I grabbed one of those fireplaces sticks and hit him in the head. He rolled over on the floor. I managed to stand up and beat him so he couldn't get me but then I blacked out. I had never been so scared in my life before. I'm just happy that Gil and my family found me. They wanted to go to the police but I told them that I didn't need the boys to have their father in jail, especially since their mother was already in a coma." Everyone was looking at Janet in shock. She had managed to configure a whole story.

"That.....was...so good girl." Tamar jumped up and high fived Janet. "This why I love you."

"But Janet, that's lying." said Evelyn.

"Technically no. All of that actually happened, I never said that Keri gave it to me. I gave it to myself but based of the rest of the story their going to assume that he drugged me."

"Wait." said Katherine. Everyone sat and thought about the story. Janet really never did say that Keri gave her the drugs she just said the juice tasted funny. "She's right. She didn't lie." Everyone laughed.

"Girl you know how to cover your ass." said Gil. "That's why you're my bestie."

"You know it, Kiesh." Everyone spent a little more time talking before the nurse came in.
