Chapter 30

It was two days after New Years, and everyone was preparing to go back home. Janet had Tommy's new car sent ahead so that it would be at his house when he got there. Ever since Christmas, Toni has been paying close to Janet for a hint of what was going on. So far she noticed that Janet had some erratic behavior and seemed to forget the things she did while in those erratic moments. However, she noticed that her behavior calmed down extremely and she seemed to be zoned out. Despite that, they had a great time.

Right now, Toni was packing things into their bags while Janet was sitting on the side of the bed looking at her phone. Toni knew something extreme had happened because Janet no longer let her play on her phone. Janet kept her phone so close to her that you'd think that it was attached to her body. Toni took the bags to the hall so Tommy and Joey could take them down to the car. Coming back into the room, Janet was just looking off into space. "Baby, what's going on? Are you okay?"

"Yeah, just tired."

"Are you sure?" Toni sat next to Janet. "Because you've been acting really weird for the past week." Janet snatched away from Toni and stood up.

"I'm fine!" Toni stood up. Now she was pissed.

"Oh really. Because you almost took my arm off right there."

"Oh my god. You're so damn dramatic. What the fuck is wrong with you?"

"What the fuck is wrong with me? You. You are."

"Me?"

"Yes! You've been walking around her like a maniac one day and then the next you're like a zombie! You've barely talked to the boys over the last few days! You haven't treated me the same! Why!"

"Did you ever think that maybe you're annoying as fuck! Like damn, I can't have time to myself?!" Toni was shocked. This wasn't Janet from a week ago. She would never speak to her like this. She felt her heart break. Not because of how Janet spoke to her but because she knew something was going on and she didn't expect her to be open about it because Janet had made it known before that she just buries things, instead of dealing with it.

"Baby, what's going on? This isn't you." Janet turned and looked at Toni. That's when Toni saw it. Janet was in pain and it was something bad. Ever since Toni was little she's been able to get a sense of people and right now all she saw in Janet was anger that was a mask for some extreme pain. Toni grabbed Janet's hands. "Talk to me. What's wrong?"

"Nothing!" Janet pushed Toni and she fell. "Leave me the fuck alone!" Janet stormed out of the room. Toni got up and followed behind her but by the time she got outside, Janet was gone.

"Okay Toni, we got all the bags....what's wrong?" Tommy and Joey saw the tears in Toni's eyes.

"It's Janet. I don't know what's going on with her but she stormed off. She's gone." Joey and Tommy looked at each other. "What was that?"

"What? Nothing." said Joey.

"Yes it was. Do you know what's wrong?"

"No." Toni looked to the side. Joey and Tommy looked at each other again.

"I saw that! What's going on?"

"It's not our place. Let's get you to the airport. Maybe she'll show up." Just then Toni's phone dinged. There were some purchase notifications. One was a big purchase of alcohol and another was for a car rental. Janet figured since they were getting married that Toni should have access to her bank accounts and credit cards. Toni did the same thing. So any purchase they made that seemed fraudulent, the other one got a notification.

"She's not. She just rented a car. Let's go." After another hour of preparing, Toni got the boys and they all got in the car to head to the plane. The whole time, Denim was asking where Janet was but Toni didn't have a suitable answer yet. "Denim, please stop."
