As I walked up to the front door, it opened quickly and out came a pretty blonde girl with a smile that went from ear to ear. "Sofia!! Oh my god I have missed you!" She screams as she squeezes me tightly into a bear hug. "I've missed you so much Christine! You look great" I say looking at her. "Oh stop, c'mon get your ass in here there's so many people you need to meet!" She grabs my hand and leads me into the house.
It is currently decorated for the engagement party clearly. White roses and greenery everywhere. We reach the kitchen and sitting at the island were two men. Adam comes in behind be and introduces us."Alright boys this is my sister, Sofia. Sofia this is Smitty and Nick. Two of my groomsmen and two of my best friends." I extend my hand out to theirs to shake but instead I'm brought into a tight hug. "Its so nice to meet you!" I say as I'm being squeezed by Smitty. "Nice to finally meet you! Your brother here talks about you all the time." He says excitedly. "All good things I hope" I respond as I giggle. "Oh absolutely! Nice to meet you" Nick says as he pulls me into a hug as well. "Adam tells us you live in LA? We go there all the time I'm surprised we haven't crossed paths before" Nick says as he takes a sip of his bud light. "Oh yeah, I am usually working whenever Adam comes down. We always seem to catch each other at bad times." I say back to the group. "What do you do again?" Smitty asks. "I'm a nurse in the ER at one of the hospitals down there." I say. Christine comes up from behind and hands me a glass of what looks like lemonade. I take a sip quickly realizing there's more vodka in this than lemonade but I accept nonetheless, I could use the buzz. "Oh shit, that's right. Super badass!" Smitty says and I give him a laugh in return. "Yeah its got its pros and cons but I love working there. I'm actually working my way up to becoming a flight nurse. You know the ones that ride up in the helicopters and pick up patients with super traumatic injuries or critical illnesses? You gotta have a lot of experience and some dedication to be one, so that's my goal" I say taking another sip of the refreshing beverage. "Okay you just keep getting way cooler by the second! That's fucking rad" Nick says and I giggle at his compliment. "What do you guys do?" I asked. "Well I'm the DJ for posty, matter of fact where is that fucker?" Smitty says as he turns around in his chair looking for him. "He's on a phone call out back" Nick replies and then continues "and I play guitar for him on tour and what not. But we're all good friends here" Nick says with a smile.
"Where's Jay and Marine?" Adam asks as he sits at one of the barstools at the island, cracking open a bud light for himself. "They should be on their way" said Christine who was looking at her phone. "Yeah Jay said they were almost here" Smitty said while looking at something on the laptop in front of him. "Hold on guys, I gotta take this call from the catering company" Christine says as she exits the room.
I let my eyes wander around the rest of the place. The engagement party was tonight but not until 8pm so we still had a good 5 hours to get ready. I looked into the spacious living room that looked like it came right from a magazine cover. Dark wooden floors and very moody and dark decor. You could tell a man lived here, if it weren't for the hundreds of flowers everywhere. Adam must have caught me staring at the beautiful decor and came up to me, "would you like a tour?" "Absolutely this place is incredible" I say back.
He walks me through most of the house, showing me the wine cellar, different rooms, until we finally head out to the backyard. The backyard was breathtaking. It overlooked the beautiful city scape of Salt Lake and I could only imagine the true beauty of the view at night. On the other side was a forrest view of nothing but beautiful pine trees and trails heading up the hills. In the middle was a giant pool and hot tub, an outdoor kitchen, and a giant seating area around the fire pit. It was incredible. "Oh there's Austin, lets go say hi" Adam says as I turn around to see a guy smoking a cigarette facing the view.
"Austin my man!" Adam yells and Austin turns around to see who had called him. His eyes lit up and smile grew wide when he saw Adam. "What's up my brotha!" He says back as he gives him one of the weird guy hug that's like half handshake half hug; you know what I'm talking about. "Austin, this is my sister Sofia." He looks down at me and makes eye contact. I am immediately captured by his beautiful blue eyes and his gorgeous smile. He quickly puts out his cigarette and pulls me in for a hug. "Wow, Sofia. It's so nice to finally meet you" he says as he pulls back. I instantly miss the feeling of his arms wrapped around me. "Hi, yeah its so nice to meet you too Austin. You have the most beautiful home, I think I have ever seen" I say laughing, biting my bottom lip in the process as I do when I start to get anxious. I look back at the house and then back to him to catch him still staring at me. "Thank you, I really appreciate that. I love this house really, its probably why I never leave anymore" he said running his hand up the back of his neck and around to comb his beard. "You are the biggest homebody I have ever met. Im surprised to even agreed to join us for the wedding!" Adam says to Austin. Austin laughed in response, "Of course id go! I wouldn't miss it for the world, you know that" he pulls Adam into his side and pats his back. "Christine's doing a good job making my house look like a flower shop" Austin says joking to Adam. We slowly begin making our way back into the house. "Oh you know, she's just doing what she does best. At least it won't smell like ass in here" Adam jokes back earning a loud laugh from Austin and a giggle from me. "So who else is coming tonight?" I ask Adam. "Uh all of us, then Jay and Marine. Jay's one of my groomsmen and Marine is Christines bridesmaid. And then a few other friends and Christines parents." He says going through the list in his head. "Its gonna be a great fuckin time man. Im pumped" Austin said as he opens the fridge and pulls out a bud light.
