Ms. Park tried to follow her but Woo-jin blocked the door.
"Listen...No matter what happens, you stay alive," she looked at each one of them, "You must never take someone's life."
She continued, "If you cause someone to die, life becomes meaningless,"
"Alright?"
Before Ms. Park could open the door and leave the room, On-jo blocked her.
She held her wrist and pushed her lightly to the others.
"My backpack..." she pointed at the bag on the table near the window, "There's food and water there. Use the first aid kit if anyone gets hurt. There are wipes in there so make sure you clean your hands first. All of your hands are filled with zombie blood you see."
She looked down, "Also, if you have the urge to go to the bathroom, use the recording room instead. Use the papers sprawled over there to cover the glass."
"The MP3 player... it's connected to the speakers in there. Use it to lure the zombies away if you somehow need to get out. But I suggest you check if the speakers connected to the broadcasting room still work."
She sighed heavily, and looked at the tiny sound devices on her hand before clenching it, "I'll come back."
On-jo left the room and quickly shut the door. She stopped in front of the room for a bit when she heard Cheong-san scream for them to let him go and for her to come back.
She looked at her left and saw Na-yeon a few meters away from her. Her sobs echoed in the hallway.
Not wanting to attract any more zombies, she walked quietly but at a fast pace. Once she's near her, she patted her hand on her shoulder to which Na-yeon squealed.
On-jo immediately covered her mouth.
"It's me," she whispered, "You won't scream now, right?"
Na-yeon gently nodded her head.
On-jo sighed in relief and pulled her hand, "Let's go back."
Na-yeon pulled her hand back and didn't budge from where she stood, "Why are you acting as if you care? You're the one who did this."
On-jo didn't talk and just let her pour out her feelings and frustrations.
"Why do you all care about Gyeong-su? It's not like he's any important."
She wiped her tears.
"He's just a good-for-nothing welfie, acting almighty just because he saved us once."
She looked at On-jo in the eyes, "How is he any better than me?"
"No one is better or worse," On-jo answered, "We can't lose both of you the same."
Na-yeon scoffed, "Don't kid me. You guys cared for him every moment you could. All of you ganged up on me for him."
"It's because you did wrong. If it was Gyeong-su who did that to you, we would've scolded him too."
She looked down while smiling bitterly, "As if. You guys wouldn't even care if I die. I don't have any friends."
On-jo went silent for a bit, "Then you could start making one," she reached out her hand to her, "You just have to go back and say sorry."
"It's too late. They already hate me."
"It's not. You have me and Ms. Park. You know how she is. She'll beat anyone to a pulp if they ever try to do something to you."
Na-yeon wiped her tears and looked at On-jo's hand that was still in the air.
"You just have to apologize. They won't be able to hold their anger on you that long."
She was still hesitant.
"Trust me."
And Na-yeon finally accepted her hand.
On-jo smiled, "We should go back. Zombies might come anytime soon."
Both turned their heel to go to the broadcasting room's direction.
But it was as if fate doesn't want to let them live. Just like what On-jo suggested, zombies started to come at them
"Run!" she screamed.
They ran the opposite way from the broadcasting room and went one floor up. However, zombies already swarmed the hallways. On-jo placed the small speaker down and slid it far away from them. She played a sound with a 24kmmHz frequency on the mp3 player she connected to the speaker.
The zombies from that floor didn't follow them then, too preoccupied with the sound device.
They went one floor up again, this time, only a few zombies gathered. On-jo tightened her grip on Na-yeon's hand and raced through them while looking for an empty room.
As On-jo looked at the rooms, a zombie held Na-yeon's feet, making her fall down. On-jo pulled out the sharp pin she hid in her hair and stabbed the zombie in her mouth, buying them time to remove the hand that grabbed Na-yeon's feet.
Seeing that more zombies were coming their way, On-jo pressed the buttons of the two recorders she had and threw them in two opposite directions, clearing a small space for them. Fortunately, they were in front of the empty instrument room. Both leaned on the closed door while panting heavily.
But it didn't just end there.
A piano sound and zombie shrieks echoed inside the classroom.
On-jo motioned Na-yeon to stay where she was while she checked where the sound was coming from.
It was indeed a zombie. However, the piano on top of it made it difficult for her to attack them.
She sighed in relief and turned back to Na-yeon, "She's stuck."
On-jo went back near her, "I'm famished."
Both of their stomachs grumbled. Na-yeon stood up all of a sudden.
"The PTA donated food for the Choir from what I remember," she looked around and saw a door, "The storage room!"
The two of them stood up and went to the door.
"What if there are zombies?"
"I can't hear anything," On-jo placed her ear on the door, "Let's open the door."
Na-yeon twisted the doorknob, slowly opening the door in case a zombie suddenly pops out. No one was inside. Instead, food and drinks were neatly placed on the racks.
On-jo smiled and looked at her, "Let's stay in this room for tonight. Who knows if the zombie in the piano suddenly gets out."
Na-yeon nodded, "Then, let's eat first."
Both conversed as they ate. Feeling drowsy, they called it a night and decided to find a way to get back to the broadcasting room when the sun rises.
On-jo woke up after being shaken awake. Na-yeon was trembling as she waited for her to get her consciousness back.
"S-someone is outside."
That made On-jo jolt up, "Did you look?"
"No. I'm scared I'll get attacked."
On-jo stood up and went to the door, "Then wait in here for a bit."
"Don't!" Na-yeon clenched the hem of her clothes, "What if it's a zombie? You might get attacked!"
"I'll just take a slight peek. I'll be careful," she smiled reassuringly.
Once she felt Na-yeon's hand slowly loosen her grip on her clothes, she opened the door slightly.
On-jo felt relief and happiness rush inside her when she saw a familiar face.
It was Cheong-san.
