New home
Jisung was lazing around on the couch. It was early, not even seven in the morning. Miri wanted to get up too. Actually, she was the reason why he was awake so early in the first place. She had stood in front of his bed and said that she wanted to cuddle. But she didn't want to get into his, and I quote, "dirty and smelly bed". So she lay cuddled up to his side on the sofa. Grandma's blanket lay over the two of them.
While Jisung was still staring (and nodding off again and again) the stairs creaked. From the sound, he suspected that it was his mother. And she was. But he didn't catch that anymore because he had fallen asleep again.
The woman looked through the kitchen to her kids. With a sleepy smile, she put on some coffee. She didn't wake them until she had made scrambled eggs and bacon for them and came into the living room with two full plates balanced on a tray. "Wake up. Breakfast is ready."
Miri blinked her big blue eyes and stretched. Jisung also awoke from his sleep, the familiar smell in his nose.
In a few seconds, both children were hanging over their plates, stuffing their mouths. In between, Jisung beamed at his mother and gave her a thumbs up. So it took barely five minutes and everything was devoured down to the last crumb.
"'was great mom..." Jisung said and dropped back into the sofa. He stroked his belly bloated with food. "I'm glad." His mother laughed and started taking the cutlery back to the kitchen.
Miri was sent upstairs to brush her teeth and get dressed for school. For the little rest that mother and son had, they both sat next to each other in silence. She sipped coffee and Jisung stared holes in the air.
"By the way..." It suddenly hit him. "I'm moving out today."
His mother spluttered out her coffee, onto the carpeted floor and began to cough. "Excuse me??"
"I'm... moving out today?" Jisung patted her on the back. It took her a while to get her coughing under control. "Are you okay...?" Jisung asked. He was confused by his mother.
"Yeah everything's fine..." She gave him a sideways glance and then stared ahead into space.
"Did I do something wrong?"
"You know how your mother is..." Came it from the doorframe. Jungsoo, trying to tighten his tie properly. "She doesn't want her baby to leave."
"It's not like it's the second time I've moved out or anything..." Jisung drew his eyebrows together. "I'm not far away though, so don't worry about it." He took his mother's small, shaky figure in his arms.
"Where is my baby going?" A muffled sound came from his shoulder.
"... To minho?"
A short laugh was heard from the kitchen from his stepfather. "I knew it."
His mother leaned away from him, just enough so she could look him in the face. "Jisung I have a question." She brushed imaginary dust off his shoulder. "You know I like Minho, a very decent guy, the perfect son-in-law." Jisung blushed and rolled his eyes.
"But I... have you already told him... about..." Her voice got softer and softer, and the fiddling with his T-shirt sleeve grew stronger. Jisung swallowed. Then he slowly shook his head. "To be honest ...not really..." then he took his mother in his arms again.
