The Blind Vampire

chapter 9

It as been two days since the encounter with the stranger and Lily is still asleep. I have thought about taking her to the hospital. With doing so, will lead to questions that I did not want to have to answer on top of this new stranger in my presence. Looks like I am going to have to call a meeting with the leader across the border.

I heaved a big sigh and got up to go check on Lily before heading to the office to make a few calls. I hope she wakes soon because the sooner I get her away from here the sooner she is safe and out of my hair.

Walking down the hall to the room that Lily was at, I could not help but think of what the vampire could possibly have meant. He seemed so sure about what he was saying but I do not associate with his kind. Which would not be able to explain his accusations. The anger that radiated from him was so strong that it tasted bitter on my tongue. I need to figure out what he wants and fast because it does not seem like he cares about the laws that are put in place here on this land and I will be damned if he starts a revolt with these other monsters.

Reaching the oak door at the end of the hall I could feel her pulse pounding through my veins. I grabbed the cool brass door knob and let myself into the room. Her breaths came shallow and even which told me she was still out. as I reached the queen size bed I placed the back of my hand on her forehead to check her temperature. It was kind of warm but not hot to the touch.

"Finally, the fever broke. Now we just need you to wake up." I moved my hand to the back of her head where it had been cut open from the impact with the log. It seems to be smaller...

"Hmm, that seems kind of strange." She seems to be healing faster than any human I have encountered before.  What would cause that. Unless there is still some remnants left, but that can't be possible. If any of my blood was left in her she would have healed way faster. This has to be something different. I will have to look into this more after my calls.

With Lily being okay for now, I decided to leave her and head to  make an important call.

Exiting the room quietly I began walking to my office at the front part of the hall. This hall has ; two bedrooms, my office, the library,the media room and a storage closet. The bedrooms are at the end of the hall and then the library on on the left while the opposite of that is the media room. Next to the library is my office and the storage closet faces my office door. All the handles are brass except for my office doors. Those knobs where specially made with nightshade and pure silver. nothing supernatural is coming in here with out my permission first.

I open the office door and make my way to the desk. I inhale the stagnant dust that surrounds the open space. It has been awhile since I have though of this room let alone have used it. When the treaty between me and the others over the border was signed, we  came to an understanding and which has left this office in no use. Most of my affairs happen outside and are spur of the moment events. That usually result in other vampires not associated with the treaty. Those involved with the treat and are caught breaking such a pack result in death. On either side.

Reaching my desk I reached for my phone and dialed James number.

"Whats up boss? You normally call from your cell." he questioned me.

"I need you to come to the mansion and fast. I will explain everything when you get here. And James make sure you watch your back when you come." I stated before I hung the phone up and proceeded to dial then next number on my list.

"What do you want? We have been sticking to the agreement. Do try no shit with me Nate," he grumbled into the phone.

"Meet me at the rendezvous point at midnight. Do not be late."

"Why do you need to  gather with me and mine for? we kept our end of the deal for the last ten years. " he asked.

"You and your people have but this is regards to something different and I need to discuss it in person.  Be there t midnight. "

"Fine, but if you try something me people wont hesitate to attack you."

"we all know that if anyone tried anything sneaky it would be you and your filthy kind."

"Just remember you are one of us to Nate," he said with a smirk in his voice.

With that I hung up the phone and made my way to the kitchen to get me something to drink and eat. I pulled out a small coffee cup and filled it with some blood. Its been awhile since I have not had some in quit awhile.

Just as i finished my cup i heard the doorbell and knew that James had finally got here.

I went to the large oak doors and just as I opened it James rushed in and out of breath.

" what happened?" My heart right rising for just a moment.

" you said get here fast and that it was urgent" he panted out of breath.

"James," i said matter of factually, " if it was that serious, i would have came to you. I am faster."I shook my head and shut the door behind him and made my back to the hall.

" following behind me and trying to catch he breath he asked," so what is so important that you needed me here."

" follow me and you will see in a minute." With that we began walking down to the end of the hall.

As we pass my office and the library i can feel the questions bubbling up inside him and I knew he was going to say something soon.

"Boss, why are we going to the rooms? I have never been down here. What is going on?"

"Just a moment James. We are almost there." After about a minute of walking we reached the room Lily was in and I was not sure how he would take seeing her.

I opened the door and stepped in first with James following right behind.

"Are you going to tell me..." he stopped taking and took a moment to process what was happening. He walked around me and towards the bed. His steps were slow and steady as if he was afraid that she would jump at him at any moment. "why do you have a girl in this bed? What happened? Is she alive? Why is there blood on her?" he asking without waiting for an answer. He paused and i could tell his attention was focused on the girl but also was waiting for me to answer.

I waled to the other side of the bed and took a moment to check her vitals. She is doing better. Hopefully it wont be long now.

"She is alive but she has not woken up for the past two day.." He interrupted.

"But why is she still"

I cut him off," She is still her because of something that happened two days ago. which before you interrupt me again. I will tell you."

With that he closed his mouth and sat on the chair next to the bed waiting for me to continue.
