Blind As a Bat Chapter 7

Life can be funny sometimes, one minute you're trying to prepare for a wedding and the next thing you know you're a vampire trudging through a forest with a girl over your shoulder screaming bloody murder. The irony in this is that if I would not have gotten to her when I did, she would be doing that same exact thing. If she would have made it over the border then there would be nothing I can do. She would be all on her own no matter how much I would want to intervene.

"Let me go you lunatic! What is so hard for you to understand, huh? Let me GO," she screamed into my ear. Which did not sit well with my ears. This girl really is  something else.

"Look, I do not want to be doing this as much as you do not want me to, but seeing as how you are not complying with me. I had no other choice" I told her simply as that, but she did not like that answer.

"Fine, you want to play it that way, then two can play," as she said that she wrapped her hands around the back of my waist and propelled her body backwards and before I know it I am falling. But lucky me and her I might add, I let her go and throw my body to the side. If I did not have reflexes the way I do then I would have been right on top of her. We both can only imagine what the result from that would have been. Not a pretty one at that.

"What is your deal lady?" I asked, slightly annoyed but more or less just concerned. I want to get her away from the border and the longer we stay then the chance of them following us and hearing us are high. I did not expect for this to happen. I just planned to get her fixed up and then back on her way. If I would have known she was going to go postal on me I would never have brought her here.

"My deal is that you will not let me go!" She yells at me. 'Why can't you just leave me alone you psycho'

"I never said you needed to stay here or that you could not leave. I am trying to get you away from here and back to the house."

"Why so you can lock me up and torture me you sick weirdo" she questions me.

I take a moment to catch my breath and steady my pulse. I can feel myself changing and I really can not have that happen right now. The drive to just let it all go is strong and I know it is the evil the dwells inside me, but I can not let it free. She is innocent no matter how stubborn she is right now.

"Look Lily,"I take a deep breath," I know you want to leave and you can but how about we just get you out of the woods. There is a lot of dangerous things out here and trust me, neither one of us wants to be out here when they decide to show their faces, okay?"

She does not respond to me. I can hear her breathing and it seems like she finally calming down some. At least that is what I am hoping for. I go to move towards her and I can hear the rustling of the twigs beneath her feet. ' What is up with this dude'

"Why should I go with you? To be honest, I find it hard to believe that you would be able to do anything to save me or protect me if something did come out in these woods." She slaps her hands together,"I mean you are blind for goodness sake, what can you do huh?" The aggravation is very evident in her voice. 'I need to get away now. You ca not stop me anymore. I like you to see you dodge this'

She swings her right leg up to hit me where the sun does not shine and I hang a left. 'how the...'

"Look I am over this, just let me be on my way." she continued on her way but at least it was the direction we both wanted, even if she did not know it. I followed close behind her.

The air became thick all of a sudden. The hairs on my neck stud and the urge to run was strong.

"Do you mind walking faster. I am getting a little tierd," I tried to distract her from the surrounding noises around us . Something was coming but I do not know what it could be.

'Well if you did not try to carry me through the forest like a creep then maybe you could keep walking' She snickered which I knew were from her little snide thought. "you know, you can sit a take a break if you would like but I am going to keep going. There is no shame in being tired due to your age." She started laughing, 'I mean come on, you look young but you definitely are old, just can't quite tell how old.'

The forest grew quiet. The only sound I could hear for miles was the sound of the wind blowing between the leaves. The lack of noise sent bumps up my spine. And not bumps of fear; however, bumps of instinct to fight. My vampire senses were starting to kick in,

"Look we don't have time for this," I ran up behind her and threw her over my shoulder and took off running. If she was pissed before she definitely would be now and I could care less. I needed to get her and myself out of here and all this arguing was not helping anything.

"What is wrong with you?! Drop me this instant or I swear on everything you will live to regret it." She shouts as I was running through the forest. Dodging branches and fallen trees as I went. I will let her scream all she wants as long as we both get out of here.

This feeling was not going away. It felt like it was swallowing me whole and I could not figure out why. In all my years, I have never felt this....except maybe that day....no it could be the same thing. Those things were vampires and whatever this is, it is different. I do not sense them here.

Just as I was midway through a jump over a trunk I felt something pierce my leg and we both go crashing to the forest floor.

"What the fuck was that for?" she exclaimed. 'Looks like I got what I asked for but damn did he have to take me so literal.'  I could hear her struggling to get up off the floor. 

"Are you okay?"

"Why do you care? I mean you are the idiot that just threw me to the ground."

"I did not throw you to the ground. I fell"

"Well no duh you psycho, you do realize you are blind and running through the forest right?" I am surprised she did not question how I was able to do so.

As I was making my way up I felt the pain again and that is when I smelt the blood.

"Are you sure you are okay? You are not bleeding anywhere?"

"No I am not,"she stated annoyed. 'Dude, what is your deal?' "Oh, my, Nate your leg! It is bleeding. like really bad!"

"Shit," I mumbled under my breath. "Look lets go, when need to get out of here now" and as soon as I said that I felt something smash into my back. I heard Lily yell from behind me. "Lily run, NOW!" She took off running surprisingly.

'This dude is on something else. Why is he throwing himself around  like that. You think you can tell me what to do. Well guess what I will leave your ass out here.'

Of course. I can not wait to get her out of my life.

I focused my attention back to what is going on around me. I heard some rustling in the distance.

"Who's there? Come on out. You know, that was quite a cheep shot you did there. why not face me head on? You know you are in the wrong territory. You over stepped the border, so do not expect for your buddies to come and help."

I was trying to bait who ever was other out. But it did not seem to work like I thought it would. So I took off in the direction that she had ran and went to catch up.

As I was gained closer to her I could hear her scream.

"Lily?" I shouted as loud as I could.

"Nate, help me!"

I took off faster than normal. Letting the vampire speed kick in. Before I knew it I was a few feet from her, but she was not alone. I could smell him from here. His stench was prominent not because of the decay factor but I also smelt ash and something so familiar. I took another whiff and that is when I smelt it. The sent was so little that any other vampire probably would not have caught it. He smelt like her. He smelt like daisy's.

Well that is the end of chapter 7. This is officially the newest chapter since the last time I tried writing this story a few years ago. Can you guys tell the difference in writing? Does the writing seem better than before? I feel like it does.
