Vega turned to look around when she heard the compartment door slide open and found the youngest redheaded boy coming inside. He was tall, thin and rather gangly, with endless freckles, big hands and feet, and a long nose as well as blue eyes.
"Anyone sitting there?" Ron asked, pointing toward an open seat. "Everywhere else is full," Vega and Harry looked at each other and then shook their heads.
Silently, Vega watched the boy sit down on an empty seat near Harry. Ron glanced at Harry and then at Vega before looking quickly out of the window, pretending that he hadn't looked. Vega looked at his behaviour curiously – he was extremely nervous, and he still had that black mark on his nose.
"Hey, Ron," George said as he walked into the compartment with his twin. Vega felt like it was too crowded all of a sudden. "Listen, we're going down the middle of the train – Lee Jordan's got a giant tarantula down there,"
"Right," Ron mumbled, not really sounding much thrilled on the thought of a tarantula being onboard. She, however, was interested but did nothing to show it.
"Harry and Vega," Fred said. "Did we introduce ourselves?" It was a rhetorical question but Vega still shook her head no. "Fred and George Weasley. And this is Ron, our brother. See you later, then,"
"Bye," Vega, Harry and Ron said, all of them mumbling it out due to one reason or another. The twins slid the compartment door shut behind them and left.
"Are you really Harry Potter?" Ron finally blurted out. Harry nodded. "Oh – well, I thought it might be one of Fred and George's jokes. And have you really got – you know..."
Vega looked at them uncomfortably as Ron awkwardly pointed at Harry's forehead. At this, Harry pulled back his bangs to show the lightning scar. It really did look like a lightning strike. Vega looked away but Ron stared at it for a moment or two, "So, that's where You-Know-Who –"
"Yes," Harry replied. "But I can't remember it,"
"Nothing?" Ron asked eagerly. Vega wasn't really comfortable with such questions but she didn't say anything as she waited for Harry's answer.
"Well – I remember a lot of green light, but nothing else," Harry said and Vega turned around to look at him again, surprised. He remembered a green light, too?
"Wow," Ron said. He noticed Vega's surprised look and remembered that she had been there, too. "You're Vega Lestrange," It sounded more like a statement than question.
"Yes," Vega responded, choosing to answer it anyway. She watched the same strange expression appear on his face, albeit with more doubt.
"Oh," Ron said as he shook his expression off his face. Vega wished that she was allowed to change her surname. "Then, you must, too?" Harry looked at Vega. "Do you also have a scar?"
"I do," Vega muttered but did nothing to show it to them. She wasn't comfortable with sharing her scar with anyone, no matter who they were.
Glancing at Harry, Vega noticed that he was surprised to hear about this. Maybe no one told him about how he isn't the only one who had gone through something like this. But she offered no words regarding this matter.
Ron sat and stared at both Vega and Harry for a few moments, then, as though he had suddenly realised what he was doing, he looked quickly out of the window again. Vega sunk back into her seat and looked down at her hands.
"Are all your family wizards?" Harry asked into the air. Both Vega and Ron turned to look at him, unsure who he asked that question.
"Er – yes, I think so," Ron replied. "I think Mum's got a second cousin who's an accountant, but we never talk about him," Vega took this information in.
