Dear Aunt Dromeda, Dora & Uncle Ted,
I will tell you firstly that I got sorted in Gryffindor. It was a big surprise to me as well. I had asked the Sorting Hat to put me in Hufflepuff but it didn't listen to me. It sounded like a doctor, the one you took me to, Uncle Ted. But it was still fun, I guess.
I got to Hogwarts without much trouble and made friends with Harry Potter and Ron Weasley, the Weasleys' youngest son. They are both in Gryffindor with me. My dormmates are nice, too, and I talked with Hermione Granger and I think we're friends now. She's a Muggle-Born like you, Uncle Ted, and she's pretty smart. I'm surprised she's not in Ravenclaw. I like that her name is from The Winter's Tale.
The school is even more beautiful from the inside, and I really liked the Great Hall at night. I can see the Great Lake from my window and I hope I get to go and see it today. I will tell you more about how things are as the days go on.
Aquila the Owl is doing well and spent the night in the Owlery with the other friendly owls. I think he will enjoy his time here; he gets to fly around outside a lot. I also wanted to remind Dora to not slack of her duties, please. Aunt Dromeda, the full moon isn't that far!
This is it for now, I suppose. I'm about to head down for breakfast. It's rather scary to walk around the castle when it is empty but I like it also. I hope you are all doing well and have a good day. Good luck with your studies, Dora.
I think I will come visit you during the Christmas Holidays.
P.S: I think I got my hair to change colour today. I woke up with white hair. I think that might have something to do with the strange dream I had last night, but I don't know.
P.P.S: Wish me good luck. I hope I do well in the classes today.
P.P.S: I miss you all very much.
With Love, Vega
Vega re-read the letter one last time and then folded it neatly to put it into the envelope. She tapped her wand on the envelope, which caused it to seal. She jumped off of the window of the Owlery were she had been sitting writing the letter and walked over to Aquila.
For a moment, Vega's eyes flickered down to the entrance of the Owlery and noticed a flash of red move away from her vision. Vega stopped and stared for a while, frankly rather unnerved. But when there was nothing more, Vega dismissed it as a ghost or Peeves and continued with what she had been trying to do here.
"Aquila," Vega said as she reached for her owl. "Here's a letter to take to the Tonks' Residence," Aquila reached his leg out and Vega tied the envelope to it. "And here's a treat," She held out some Owl Treats to him.
Aquila ate the treats Vega had in her palm and then nodded before setting off out of the Owlery. Vega stared at him as he flew off to the distant, dawning sky. It didn't take long for the large owl to become a mere spot in the distance. When she could no longer decipher him, Vega decided it was time for her to go back.
Maybe because she was on the Seventh Floor, Vega couldn't really find anyone moving out and about. She was sure that everyone must've headed downstairs for breakfast had they been up. She knew she must hurry back and get her books before she was to go to the Great Hall. Classes were to begin that day and she must be up on her game.
Vega stopped when she noticed something move from the corner of her eyes. She was very certain that she saw someone moving and they were clearly human. Gathering some confidence, Vega started off toward the location where she saw it move.
