There wasn't a day that went by where you didn't think about Natasha. Since the day you met she plagued your mind. All she would do is smile at you and it would replay in your mind for hours afterwards. Even though she intimidated you initially, you managed to get closer to her. Neither of you had made anything official yet but everyone including both of you knew there was something there. Something between you two that no one else seemed to have.

Others would joke and say you were practically an old married couple, which you thought there was nothing wrong with that. You wanted that life, to one day marry Natasha and grow old with her. There was just one problem. You grew up in a broken home. Your parents divorcing and then divorcing multiple partners afterwards, you were never shown what real love was. Sure you saw it in movies and tv and the occasional couple on the street. But the people you looked up to since you were little never showed you what true love could be.

Once you hit your teen years that's when the angst towards love appeared. Disgusted looks when you passed those showing affection in public. You hated every aspect about love, about sharing a life with someone thinking that it would end in disappointment. You never found anyone worthy of your time or affection anyway. But then you met Natasha. At first you didn't understand why your heart would race when you saw her. Or why you became a stuttering mess and couldn't form a complete sentence around her. Even to this day thinking about Natasha brought butterflies to your stomach.

Natasha telling you that she loved you came easy to her, she hoped it came easily to you too. You wanted to tell Natasha that you loved her too but every time you stopped yourself afraid of letting yourself feel something so foreign. But today you wanted to push your fears aside and tell her that you love her. You spent the morning out at the shops buying everything you needed. A few candles, chocolates, flowers, a card, and other little bits and pieces that would help tie your gift all together.

'You're a life saver,' You thanked Wanda as she handed you the cupcakes you asked her to bake and decorate for you.

'She's going to love this,' Wanda reassured you since your doubts were loud in her head.

Letting out a breath you tied the last bow, picked up the small hamper and made your way towards Natasha's office. Since you told her you were busy in he morning she decided to get ahead of her paperwork so she could spend more time with you, 'Come in,' Natasha's voice was soft, she hadn't noticed it was you knocking on her open door to come in seeing as she hadn't given you a glance yet, 'Detka,' her gaze met yours when you placed your gift in front of hers. Natasha was quick to stand and pull you in for a kiss, 'I missed you,'

'I missed you too Natty. This is for you,' You gestured to the gift on the desk. You motioned for Natasha to sit back in her seat. You knelt in front of her, holding her hands in yours softly rubbing your thumb along the backs of her hands soothingly, 'I know this is cheesy considering it's Valentine's Day but I couldn't think of a more perfect day to tell you this,' pausing to collect your thoughts, you gave Natasha's hands small kisses before continuing, 'before I met you I always thought that love is for suckers...yet I can't stop thinking about you,' You couldn't help but smile, Natasha's own smile following yours. Your body was radiating with love for the woman sitting in front of you. There was no doubt in you that would prevent you from telling her those three words, 'Every day that passes, there is never one where you aren't in my mind. Natasha, I love you,'

'I love you too, detka. I'll continue to love you and keep your heart safe for as long as we live,'
