'Y/N, babe, wait up,' Kate called trying to catch you before you left for class.

'Oh hey Kate, what's up,' You turned to face your girlfriend, clutching your textbooks close to your chest.

'Are you doing anything on the 14th?' Kate rushed out nearly making you mishear everything she said.

'Nope, what would I be doing other than studying anyway,' Furrowing your eyebrows in confusion, it seemed like the obvious answer especially with finals coming up Kate knew your days revolved around classes and studying.

'You're serious? So you're free on the 14th?' Even though Kate knew your current schedule she still had to make sure you didn't have plans with anyone else. Though why would you have plans on the day of love with someone other than the love of your life.

'Kate, what's so special about the 14th?' You wanted your girlfriend to get to the point of why she kept asking you about this one date, hearing the bells ring in the background.

'It's February,' Kate looked at you deadpanned, she thought you were joking around until she noticed the seriousness written across your face.

'And?' Raising your eyebrow at her she shook her head deciding not to tell you so she could surprise you.

'No reason, just - you now have plans with me on the 14th. I'll pick you up 10am,'

'So I'll see you at 11am then,' Laughing you and Kate both split ways trying to make it to your classes on time.

'Wow I didn't think you'd actually be here on time,' Kate arrived at your dorm exactly at 10am. She greeted you with flowers and a box of chocolates in the shape of a heart.

'Well it is a special day,' Kate smiled, giving you a kiss on your lips.

'Are you going to tell me what's so special about today or am I going to have to guess?' Putting the flowers in a vase with water, you smiled smelling them. Smelling almost as sweet as Kate. You felt her hand on your shoulder, turning you to face her. Cupping your cheeks with her hands, you leaned into her touch gazing into her eyes.

'You look beautiful,' You could feel the heat rising in your cheeks. Kate leaned in and kissed you slowly, 'Happy Valentine's Day my love,' Kate rested her forehead on yours.

'I've never-'

'I know. So let me take care of you today and show you how to really celebrate this day,'

Kate kept her word and you definitely felt what this whole day was about. You could just feel the love radiating from Kate as she held you close whispering sweet nothings in your ear. As she was spinning you around as she decides to randomly dance with you in the middle of the walkway. You had never experienced a Valentine's Day before, it was never a huge celebration or a big deal where you were from. But to Kate holidays and celebrations meant everything so once you knew what the day was you could count on Kate to go big.

'You know you don't have to feed me each piece of fruit I want to eat,' Laughing while you pushed Kate's hand away from your face as she went to feed you another strawberry.

'Oh, babe,' Kate stuck a strawberry half in her mouth, the other half sticking out. She motioned to her mouth leaning in, you finally understood. It definitely did not go as smooth as she had planned. A mess when most the strawberry ended up on the ground than in your mouths.

'So smooth, good job,' Making fun of Kate was your favourite pastime, especially because 9 out of 10 times she definitely deserved it.

'Oh shoot is that the time,' Kate's eyes widened as she grabbed your hand dragging you along to her next destination for the two of you. You couldn't help but laugh running through the streets til you arrived at a tall building.

In front of you was a bench with fairy lights hanging over the banister. Just as the sun set you heard a loud bang and then saw the fireworks. You and Kate stood hand in hand watching the firework show. Kate felt you shiver and put her jacket on you, wrapping her arm to pull you into her side, 'Look up,' Kate whispered pointing to the sky, higher than where the fireworks had been. There was one last bit of the display that formed, 'I love you,'

'I love you too, Kate,'
