The whole gang was seated in Luke's kitchen. There was some uneasiness between Ashton and I. We hadn't decided when we were going to tell them we were getting married and if we were gonna tell them it was just so he could stay in the country. He hadn't told any of them he was about to be deported and I thought we should keep it that way. They were our friends but I didn't want to take any chances of the government finding out the marriage was a sham. Calum and Michael were sitting in front of me playfully shoving each other while Luke was laying on the counter on his back humming to himself. Suddenly, Ashton laid his hand on my thigh under the counter and cleared his throat.
"Guys," he chimed.
Luke sat up noticing how serious Ash's tone was. Calum and Mike stopped messing around and turned their gazes toward Ashton.
"Lucy and I are uh- getting married kinda."
"Are you trying to fuck with us?" Luke asked, bewildered.
I took the ring from my jeans' pocket and dropped it into Luke's hand.
"You just met a week ago what the hell, Lucilla?" Luke's voice sounded angry. I knew it'd be surprising but I didn't think he'd be mad. How did this affect him at all?
"We're in love, Luke," I told him. It was hard to keep a straight face. The whole situation was ridiculous and I was extremely uncomfortable.
"It's not a big deal, Luke, c'mon. I'm happy for you guys," Calum tells us. I smile at him.
"Luce, can I talk to in private for a sec?" Luke asks me hopping down and pulling me into the hallway.
"Why are you marrying him I'm so confused. A couple days ago you were all anti-men and focusing on your school work and shit. What the hell happened?"
"Why are you mad? I don't get it you wanted me to get with one of your friends and now I'm in love with one, isn't this what you wanted?" I hated lying to Luke, he was the closest person in my life right now and he meant the world to me but I had to. I'd already agreed to marry Ash and we had an agreement not to tell a soul it was all bullshit.
"I wanted you to not be lonely anymore not to marry one of my best fucking friends," he whispers fiercely.
"I'm sorry I didn't know it'd affect you this much," I reply sarcastically.
He sighs and looks down at his shoes.
"It doesn't, I'm sorry I should be happy for you, it's just weird."
"I know." He wraps his big arms around my shoulders. "I'm sorry, Lucy, I'm a selfish prick who wants you all to myself."
I hug him back and chuckle. He kisses the top of my head and let's go.
"You're my best friend, you know that?"
"Yeah, I know. You're mine too, I guess." He smiles and we walk back into the kitchen. I did NOT think Ash and I getting married would cause this much drama, Jesus Christ.
Calum and Mike are now playing Mario kart in the living room. I walk back over to Ashton as Luke joins them in the living room.
"Is he okay?" Ash asks.
"Yeah, everything's fine."3 hours later it's 10 o'clock and we're sitting by Luke's fireplace with a bottle of rum. Ashton is completely smashed and is giggling like a crazy person. I don't know if I've ever met a cuter human being. His blond curls are in his face as he tips his head back to take another swig. Every step I take feels like I'm floating as I walk to the bathroom. When I'm done, I walk out almost tripping. Ashton's standing in front of me. My vision is blurred but he looks like an angel in the dim lit corridor.
"Lucy," he says softly. He cups my cheek and places a kiss on my forehead.
"You're gonna be my wife, what the fuckkk," he slurs and I giggle.
"I want to kiss you."
"Whats stopping you?" I ask. And then he does it. He dips his head down towards mine and presses his lips onto my lips. There's a slight electricity, maybe it's just the alcohol or its his warm tongue on mine or his huge hands gripping the back of my neck. But the feeling is good and I don't want it to end.
