Chapter 9

Nene was quick to get out of that forbidden forest.

It took time to get to the top of the cliff she had fallen from but somehow, she made it up again.

She rushed down the street, the sunlight making her hair shine, in a hurry to reach the school. On her way, she saw mokke's happily hopping with glee which surprised her.

So, Tsukasa-kun really granted my wish, huh......

Nene knew her wish got granted but it was hard to believe that Tsukasa would help someone like her. Besides, he doesn't even grant wishes for the living.

Tsukasa grants wishes for the dead.

What if he was doing this all for a reason?

Nene continued her way down the street and was relieved when she saw Kamome Academy coming to her view.

Mokke-chan was back. So, did that mean everyone else is back too? She would get her answer soon.

She did not hesitate when she saw the school gates. She remembered what Tsukasa told her. Nene could still hear his voice repeating the lines in her head.

"Since you wanna see Amane so badly, I'll give you 60 seconds to survive even after the lifespan is transferred. And the countdown starts only after you cross the school gates."

Nene closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

She was going to do this. She really was going to do this. This is how things should really be. She's going to make everything right, how it's supposed to be.

She quickly opens her eyes and crosses the school, determined. There was no turning back.

And that's when her countdown starts.

60 seconds...

Nene runs towards the school with tears streaming down her cheeks. She would be glad if she saw Hanako before she died.

What if she didn't?

She choked back a sob as she ran.

38...

Nene felt nauseous. But she kept going entering inside the school. Where would everyone be?

She felt like she had to check the library for some reason. She had a hunch that she was correct.

29...

Nene suddenly felt pain. So much pain that she wanted to scream. Her heart felt like it was going to burst.

In a second, she vomited out blood. The red liquid pours out of her mouth, ruining her shirt. She had no strength to run anymore.

So, she had to slow down her pace. She kept her hand against the wall to steady herself and continued to go to the library.

But she just kept coughing out more blood.

23...

Nene busted into the library, noticing that everyone was present there in the big room.

But she noticed Hanako too and tried to quickly reach him. But halted when she coughed out more amount of blood than necessary. She coughed in pain.

Hanako looked horrified and caught her in his arms when she fell. He slides down onto his knees and kept her head on his lap.

Hanako was shaking and she could see his eyes welling up with tears.

18...

Kou was by Hanako's side in an instant looking down at her with tears dropping down his face.

"Senpai! You can't die now!" He cried, as he fell on his knees looking at her. Then Kou looked at her shaking. "I couldn't protect you... how did this even happened!?"

9...

Nene couldn't stay awake anymore. She couldn't feel the pain anymore. Her eye lids were getting heavy and it was getting tougher to stay awake. She felt cold. She couldn't move a muscle.

Oh. So, this is how it feels like when you're dying. It's peaceful...

Hanako cupped her cheek. "Y-yashiro..." He pleaded. "P-please stay a-awake! The kid and I will find a way to save you!"

5...

She coughed up more blood, her eyes also getting teary. "I-it's o-okay, H-hanako-kun, it's too l-late, you c-can't-"

Hanako interrupted her. "N-no! Don't say things like that!" He sobbed, his tears finally running down his cheeks freely.

4...

He leaned down his forehead against hers, using his fingers to brush away her a strand of her hair from her face. "You don't know..." He whispers. "... how precious you are to me."

Nene swears that she felt surprised and awed when he said those words.

"Please stay awake Yashiro! Please..." He pleads, desperately. His tears fall on her cheek and she tries her best to focus on him, trying not to rest.

Kou's also crying along with Hanako. She could make out the sobs of her best friend who was in Akane's arms at the corner of the room. She could even feel everyone's gaze on them.

Nene smiled, even if she was in pain. Aoi can be happy with Akane, this is how it's supposed to be.

But what about you, Nene? What about you?

3...

Nene tried to stay focused, trying to make death not overtake her. Hanako kept murmuring pleads into her ears.

"Y-yashiro..." He murmurs, not knowing what to do to save her. Nene knew there could be nothing done.

2...

Nene used all her power and strength to lift her hand to hold his cheek in her palm. Hanako's breathe hitched as he looked into her eyes. His eyes were glassy.

It was now are never. She had to tell him how she feels about him before she's out of this world forever.

Hanako's sad amber eyes met with her weak crimson ones.

1...

"H-hanako-kun...I...I-" She suddenly stopped breathing, her hands going limb falling onto the floor.

0...

Hanako-kun, I love you.

She was too late. The last thing she heard before death over took her was what Hanako whispered with sorrow.

"Yashiro, please come back to me..."

Then her world turned black completely, forever.
