Chapter Twenty Nine

Jourdan looked at the two hosts of the radio station that he was currently at. He had a tight schedule today and everything needed to be done with efficiency. It had been weeks since the announcement of the pregnancy. The media was still hot on their trail on a daily basis trying to piece everything together. Anything that Maia posted with Zakari always got misconstrued into something else. Their friends were on the watchlist, as well.

"So, the album drops tomorrow, how do you feel?" The male host, Cane, asked him happily. "I know you've gotta be itching to get this out."

Jourdan laid back in the chair and laughed. "Oh absolutely," he replied. "This album is like a pizza roll right out of the oven, man."

The woman host, Tasha, cracked up at the reference, because everyone was familiar with how eager everyone is to take that first bite before allowing it to cool. "You're rumored to have some heavy hitters on this album, but you're still not telling us who. Why?"

Jourdan shrugged his shoulders. "I want people to listen to the album because of the story it's gonna tell, not because you think Usher on here."

"Is Usher on here?" Cane asked him. "You know everybody has suspected him."

Jourdan looked at him for a moment before shrugging his shoulders. "Only people I know that are on the album is me and Tiarra. I don't know shit about shit else."

Tasha cracked up. "Alright. I will say that your team does a good job at withholding secrets about your music."

"But an awful job at your personal life," Cane interrupted. "What the fuck is that about?"

Jourdan laughed out, knowing that it was coming. They'd discussed the album in depth already and they were now ready to get to the juicy parts of it. "Some shit happened that I cannot discuss, but there were some snakes on the plane. Once we got that shit handled, everything comes from me."

"Yeah," Tasha spoke, "because I've noticed that after that performance where you shared your previous relationship with Maia, the media has to run around finding stories."

"And that's crazy to me," Jourdan explained. "Like what else do you need to know? I've confirmed that Maia and I had an entire relationship, were pregnant before, and pregnant now. The sex tape was leaked. Now y'all wanna know how I feel about not being with her? Shit's wild."

Cane shifted in his seat. "I think it's mainly because one, we're nosy as fuck and two, I think she brought that humility and relatableness out of you and we just want to know how far you'll let us go."

Jourdan nodded his head at the thought. "I respect that. I get that, but I think that after the months of shit that Maia went through, I don't want her subjected to anything else. Like, that's the mother of my kid. I can't let y'all destroy her."

"How has she been?" Tasha asked in a concerned voice. "I've seen a few of her posts and I see that she's kind of moved on, but when we think about that hostage situation she was in, being pregnant, and all of the other stuff that happens, I just want to make sure she's okay."

"Um," Jourdan began as he thought about how to answer the question. Maia was a topic that came up with every interview and Jourdan made sure that he only spoke life into her and about her. He didn't dwell on what happened previously and made sure that people knew that he was off that. "Overall, Maia's good. I don't want anyone to be concerned about her. Rumors are something she's dealt with before. She knows how to move around that shit. But, we have a good ass solid tribe and she got a good ass man that takes care of her."

"The man with the dreads, right?" Cane asked.

Jourdan looked over to him and nodded. "Yeah, his name is Zakari."
